Our project work is more interesting than B4, consultant quality is higher (I would argue), but we make wayyyy less. An SKP M makes about 200k all-in, whereas a similar level at MBB/T2 make about 240-250.

Agreed - the pay gap has gotten much worse in recent times, we are losing talent left and right because 50k is not something you easily walk from.

I think if we want to compete for talent with MBB, T2, and others at the post MBA level, we need to be more competitive with those salaries (within $10k). This current gap is then exacerbated at more senior roles.

Agreed, though tbh I don’t think the insane salary raises in the last 2-3 years at MBB & B4 makes much sense. Don’t get me wrong I’m glad it brought our comp up as well, but it does feel like a salary arms race is going on.

In the US it’s a bit lower than B4 and quite a bit below MBB and T2s for most roles, particularly now that other firms have raised salaries so much during COVID. That said, I think our WLB is generally better and we’ll see what the news is on the salary increase. From what I’ve heard the biggest pay gaps are at more senior levels. For example, M at SKP makes $155-165 base while M at T2 firms have a base around $200 and this gap is larger for Directors.

As I prepared to file my notice, the partner of the firm called me and asked me to stay. They’re willing to promote me mid year in December and increase salary next year in August. The current offer I have gives 60% pay increase and Partner still can’t match that offer after promotion.
