I'm a 32 year old manager and am looking at EMBA at Booth. People 2-4 years out of school may be smart but won't be on my level for contributing ideas and knowledge based on experience. You can only learn so much in a book.
M1 what I have learnt from spending some time around the Econ department at Harvard is basically find a professor "friend." Have them hire you as a research assistant. It was shocking but very few people actually get into the PhD program on merit alone. They have worked for, or somehow know, a Harvard professor.
Just out of curiosity, why is age an issue?
GMAT is good, age is an issue. Apply first round, dude. I also had a 760, 3.4 GPA, and am a minority woman. I only got into NYU. Good luck.
Focus on your work. You have experience and are clearly not the person that 2.8 wants people to believe
I am a gay immigrant and had 690 for my GMAT and all I care for is to retire as a manager with my boyfriend :)
How Is age an issue!? Lmao he's 30 and young
Penn state computer science and physics
K1: Harvard is leaning very strongly towards people with with exactly 2-4 yrs of experience. Stanford with exactly 4 years. Wharton and Columbia are open to slightly older folks. It's the truth.
P1 - undergrad school and major?
Consider Columbia, Duke, Penn executive programs, less emphasis on GPA more on experience in admissions
Age issue? R u guys serious? Nobody cares about Age as long as you outshine other. Apply all the top schools! Good luck!
M1 would you like to go to a phd program? I am thinking about it too. The sooner the better.
Had 720 gmat and 3.8 GPA at Colombia exec
I don't know if you have a shot at MIT, Wharton or Columbia but I want your life! #priorities
You can explain the GPA. Age is more of an issue.
What was you major and what undergrad?
I don't see age as that big an issue. You are different and bring more experience and maturity.
Prime time is 27-33 for MBAs in my experience. Enables more application of prior work and gives more of a foundation to build
Op: age is not a deal breaker but top schools are leaning towards younger candidates.
Wait, so what is a happy medium for age at top 10? Just curious cus I feel like 30 isn't too old...
