Looking for advice on tips and tricks for landing PE MBA internship, coming from consulting. What were the game changers for you?

Has anyone heard from Yale yet?

I am a paralegal with 7 YOE (mixture of workers comp defense, personal injury, and now working in the litigation department in-house for a mortgage company). I have a BS in Legal Studies and am considering obtaining my MBA.

Anyone pivot from the legal world into something else using an MBA? I just feel like I’ve hit a ceiling and won’t ever make the money I would like to.

I’m thinking maybe risk, compliance, or HR, although none of these things necessarily appeal to me.

Anyone have recommendations for MBA application consultants, experience stories and/or good questions to ask them during the initial chat? Thanks in advance!

Can anyone speak to the presence of impact investing across PE versus VC or HF?

For context, I’m going for my MBA next fall (targeting M7) and want to pivot into impact-focused finance but am struggling to understand which option is best. I’m going in with 3 years of tech consulting experience (data & analytics) in the financial services industry.

Anyone here had any experience negotiating scholarships if your top ranked/preference one is giving most? Can you try get lower ranked school to give more then go back to top ranked school to get higher scholarship or not?

Hi! I’m a first-year associate working at a large regional firm. I attended a well-ranked, but regional law school and my grades weren’t stellar. School was never very motivating for me, and I put way more effort into internships and networking than my studies during law school. Luckily, I love to network and landed an awesome job at a big firm. Eventually, I’m hoping to work in-house. My question is this, will my grades always follow me? I’ve heard that with time and experience, not so much.

SO has been in the food service industry for the past 6 years. He is considering an MBA for the education & strategic shift aspects (better salary, new career). For someone who doesn’t have a business education/bkgd, is MBA the best way forward or are there other options? What exit careers would make an MBA most worth it in terms of it’s heavy financial cost? Lastly, he’s trying to narrow down what he’s interested within business — any resources for doing so other than googling?

1. Apply with the score I have.
2. Don’t apply early. Wait for a stronger score before applying regular cycle in the future.
3. Take GRE and compare scores. My verbal is much stronger than my quant.

Harvard with a 690, keep dreaming or nah ? Can I apply round 1 with this and keep grinding and send an update in October/November ?

Are they reported differently such that the school knows whether I took at home or at test center? The school I'm applying to doesn't specify which one they want for this year and I'm applying next year. If they are reported the same then I can just do the at home one regardless.

What’s the secret to a high GMAT score? I missed like 1/3 on both math and verbal sections on the practice test and it approximated I got a 770?! I feel like it’s mistake unless certain questions are weighted differently. Can anyone provide an explanation?

Is it even possible to get HSW with a low GPA (3.3-3.5 range) if you’re an ORM guy? Even if you went to top 20 undergrad, top GMAT (780-800), good work experience (top consulting firms+FAANG)?

Tough question - need advice: Applying for R2 deadlines to M7 unis. My undergrad gpa took a huge dip in my second year of uni due to a sexual assault incident which really impacted my mental health. Is this something I should mention to the unis in my essays or as an extenuating circumstance? Or is it better to leave it unsaid?
