PT makes no sense if you're trying to pivot. Also, while I'm sure you have access to the same postings, I feel that recruiting has a bias towards FT. Also, there's no way you'll be able to attend all the events that are required to stay on "the list" for the highly coveted companies. Not to mention you will be competing with the FT students at K and B for those jobs.
MBB recruits at all those schools, but with more slots the higher you go up the rankings. Also, the spots are very regionally based. Anecdotally, Stern sends more to Deloitte/B4/T2 consulting than MBB. These are positions out of the NYC office.
Fuqua will probably be for Atlanta offices.
All this to say:
If you want MBB in DC, go to Darden.
MBB recruits in high numbers from kellogg.
^ which is a massive and notable constraint from the perspective of an interviewer
I don't think people give Georgetown enough credit, because a lot of people tend to go into federal after, which pays less than commercial, and therefore lower rankings.
What happens if you don’t get into MBB?
Darden or Georgetown if aiming for DC
Kellogg is a consulting hub. However everyone is singing the same song. Personally while recruiting I have a bias towards booth. Great program and has more options than K I feel
PT gives you no opportunity to intern and pivot careers - you may find that you have a different passion within the first year.
Also, from a campus recruitment standpoint, you may be competing for limited slots against your peers who interned at MBB - I imagine that would put you at a disadvantage.
Really tough to get a full time offer from an MBA. Most offers go through summer internships - I would recommend doing a 2 year program where you are able to do an internship if you are shooting for MBB.
Go full time, mbb recruit at all those schools
Lol part time Kellogg over full time Darden or Duke?!
Kellogg
Do you get the same exit ops it of K part time? Fuqua holds its course own in consulting recruiting.
PT - you will continue to make $$$, gain extra 2y of work experience, and still have access to on-campus recruiting. The only issue is the time constraint for case study preparation and networking events.
@Op what happens if you don’t get into MBB?
If they interned at MBB why would they need a full time interview slot? I assume interns get offers.
I think there were 20 people who got hired from darden when I went there, which is pretty good considering the size of the school
Like BCG1 said, go full time. I’ve never met somebody who had a part time MBA at the firm.
Our DC office recruits at all three of the schools you mention. We have taken people from Georgetown as well but it is very rare
