Do a nanny. Baby alway, always cry at the worst time , especially when you are in middle of a meeting. With a nanny you can concentrate on work worry free.

Nanny. I get pretty much no work done from the moment my nanny walks out the door each day until my baby is in bed for the night. While childcare responsibilities and attention required are high with infants, they increase as your baby gets older and more mobile (and naps less)

I am a Senior Manager who transitioned from client service to an internal Chief of staff role. I *do* have a bit of control over my schedule so I attempt to avoid conference calls in the late afternoon...But they still happen quite a bit. Maybe I have a magic baby....She is content to play if I have some work that needs most of my attention. I have my office in the playroom, which we've baby proofed. So she is free to roam and I know she is safe even while being mobile. Do I get my best thinking done at this time? Nope. Do I wake up an hour or two early to make up for that? Yup! So far, it's going well - no disasters. I am assuming this will only work for a short period of time....But I'm loving it right now.

Schedule all your calls early so you are done with meetings by the time your mom leaves. Finish your work after so even if the baby cries, you can tend to the baby and finish at night after baby sleeps. Or get a nanny.

Or should i get a nanny to watch the baby from 2.30 to 5? What do you guys think

Nanny

Definitely a nanny

Nanny

No way. Get someone to help.

Nanny or mother’s helper

Definitely get some help!

Nanny

Nanny for sure no way

Nanny. I get nothing done when trying to work from home with my kids there as well. If I am lucky, I can read emails and type 2-sentence answer on my phone

I asked a similar question earlier and got this same answer....But now that I am living it, I disagree!!!! I am totally fine handling my 7 month old from 2:30 to 5 on my own while working. Not sure why so many moms say they can't.

D4 I literally don't know how that’s possible. Do you not have calls? Unless your baby is napping how can you give your work your full attention if you have to give them attention?

Agree with SM. Unless you have no calls or meetings, it does not work. There is nothing more frustrating than juggling a crying baby and taking a meeting . You do injustice to the baby and do not come very nice to your colleagues not to mention clients .

D4 can you elaborate a bit on how you’re doing it? Like super fast mute/unmute finger? One handed typing pro? Magic baby? I’m so impressed. Last time I tried to do this my baby vomited on me in the middle of a call and I just had to stay covered in baby vomit for an hour. At least it was an internal call so my team was okay with baby noises in the background.

D4, how long have you been doing this. My son is 10 months old. The magic period of 7-8 months this might have been possible (he sleeps 2-4 and then I would have had to feed him at 4 and then he would have entertained himself a bit). If you are avoiding conference calls during this time and your deliverables are flexible, I could see that. I will say that once baby is mobile, that usually goes out the window. Also, what level are u?

No question you will need a nanny
