Going back to work Jan 4 and my 3 month old won’t take a bottle. We’ve tried since she was 1.5 months and she just holds the bottle nipple in her mouth but she doesn’t suck.

For now, I’m ok with breastfeeding while working, but just in case with meetings and whatnot, it’d just be awesome if my husband could feed her.

Any advice? Is it possible to get baby on a feeding schedule that I could just put on my Google calendar as “pumping” time?

You should leave the house when your husband gives her the bottle. If baby smells mom , baby will wait for the boob. Also, you may need to try a variety of bottles/nipples until you find one that she likes.

like

Wanted to add that you can give hubby a worn shirt of yours (because it smells like mama) to hold while you're on that walk and it may help keep baby calm and willing to take the bottle.

like

Mine never took a bottle or pacifier. Also had colic and other issues which as it turned out, are caused by a lip and tongue tie that the pediatrician missed/dismissed. Now going to a tie savvy SLP and eventually a dentist to have it corrected by laser. Get an evaluation from a tie savvy LC. Also check the bottles, maybe como tomo or nano bebe might help. Milk temperature also makes a difference.

like

You may also want to try a straw cup. Sippy cups apparently aren’t great for dental development

like

You could also try giving hubs a tshirt that you wore to help recreate mommy smell (he can drape it over his shoulder, for example). It might also help for you to give the baby a bottle to see if she/he takes it. Definitely try other bottles (although this strategy has a slippery slope of a very expensive trial and error, unfortunately). Also, if using frozen milk, smell it when it thaws and is warmed up - you might have excess lipase which would make the milk smell and taste soapy (I had that issue).

When my husband went on paternity with our first son, he barely ate the first couple of days and then realized that when mama was not home, that’s the best he would get, and ate well ever since.

like

If baby takes an ounce or so from the bottle, that’s a good sign. My LC also said to try a few different bottles but that consistency was more important so not to go crazy buying a bunch of different ones. I had to leave for 5-6 hours before my baby would accept a bottle from my mother.

like

I’d hire a lactation consultant.

like

I also had this issue. It finally got to the point where my baby is now 6 months old and we just introduced a sippy cup and straw cup. And he’ll take about 3 oz most from the sippy cup so it’s enough to at least sustain him.

like

We were able to keep him home with us up until this point so wasn’t a big deal - but my mom retires end of Jan so he’ll be staying with her during the day soon. Fingers crossed he’ll eat well enough for her via the sippy cup 🤞🏼🤞🏼

My son refused the bottle for a long time too. We tried maybe a dozen different brands and nipple types before we found one that worked for him. (Tipee Tommy ended up working for us.) maybe try a few different kinds of bottles to see if that helps?

like

Just here to follow because I’m in the same situation with my 4mo! I also got the bottle box from babylist that came with 5 different bottles to try!

like

We have that too!

How often do you try? Who has been trying to give bottle and what temp? Have you pumped and frozen and then tried giving, or tried giving fresh? What bottle types are you using?

We’ve tried fresh and frozen, warm and cold, me and my husband, Dr. Brown mostly, but venturing out now to other bottles. I’ll take a look at the article!

Hi fishes,
I'm 22 and planning to take a life insurance. I'm comparing all policies and max life seems attractive as it has good claim settlement ratio and less premiums. But there is no office near our area. My worry is that if there is a need to claim in future, it can be done all online by my nominee? Is it recommended to take policy online in any platform(like policybazaar)?
Other options I'm considering are SBI life, HDFC life which offices are available in my locality.

Need advice, my brother and his wife have a three month old and aren't the most cautious parents with my nephew. Yesterday, my SIL was giving him a bath and just left him in the tub on the counter to go run upstairs for something. I'm worried that when he starts rolling over he'll fall off because they will have developed this bad habit...
