I’m certainly feeling the bern.

Idk. I have 300k at 7% average. The only offers I’m getting are in the 5% range....

For that I might as well pay pennies until I’m fuckin old as dirt see what’s left to collect when I’m dead, bitches.

Actually laughed out loud at this. I agree with this mentality and approach. Only thing is that I PANICKED when I saw I’ve only been paying towards interest.

So apparently PSLF has no tax penalty??

It might make the difference between staying at my current spot or leaving back to public sector... I’d be taking a pay cut of at least 40k... but 300k of loans totally wiped? Sonofabitch, I’m in 👍🏽

like

I don’t think so. You lose federal protections (PAYE, IBR, PSLF) and it may not be discharged if you meet a premature death (I’m sorry). If you can go without PAYE and have life insurance or other means to cover the balance for your family, then it may be worth the lower interest rate.

Oh awesome! Well yeah. It’s definitely worth it to me at least 😅

California tax question. I moved overseas in November 2020 establishing a rental agreement in a different country. I sold my California registered car in May 2021 (my ONLY California asset). In total, I spent ~36 days in California during 2021. I use my mother's California house as an address to receive packages and letters. I don't intend to return to California, as I want to buy a house in Texas. I have a potential $70,000 CA tax bill due to capital gains from a long-term investment.

So I have dabbled in stocks for 10 years but always a small amount. Since last year I have gradually raised the amount and have made significant profits ( 40k last year n 160k+ this year so far). The latter amount is even more than what me or my wife individually make annually. I am very passionate about it but wondering can and should I take it up on a full time basis in 5 years from now. I have 10+ years of experience and have studied at a top 10 US b-school. Thoughts/suggestions?

Thoughts on secondary market shares for Palantir? I know this is a forum mainly dedicated to public companies but I have an opportunity to buy at a discount from the $20B valuation

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

Anybody take the leap and quit without another job? I have plenty of savings, just worried about finding the right job after a few months break. Would love to hear experiences good or bad.

Is there an easy/efficient way to figure out how much you've contributed to vs earned in your Roth accounts? I started contributing >20 years ago to my employer's Roth 401k and have rolled it over to a Roth IRA and moved it between multiple custodians, e.g. Fidelity, Vanguard, UBS, Personal Capital, etc. It is unclear to me how much I contributed vs how much I earned by investing it.

The purpose of doing this is I want to use $10K of it, but want to prove that the $10K is from my contribution.

What should I do for consevative strategy of investment. I invested in RE before and never had time and brush up my knowledge in stock other than puting to my 401k. Now my paychecks per month is $10k. I spend maybe $3k for expense and misc stuffs. What is the best way to put maybe $3k to work? Buying big giant stocks? Or just some funds? Or maybe I should just put all of them in to work? I never take that much of the risk. I have home equity for emergency fund. Thanks!
