Can’t say I’m killing it but gave myself a little cheer for making it through today. Regular nanny got sick Monday so I had to leave work early. I Called bright horizons for backup care that night. Tuesday at 5am they tell me the backup is sick and they can’t get someone to me til 1:30pm. Morning was typing with one hand while bouncing baby, taking phone calls while feeding him. Left him with teleworking dad at 11am so I could go to the dentist and get a crown on a tooth I cracked. Changed into a suit in the dentist office, had another conference call while driving to the office (with a clear lisp from my numb mouth), ran to a meeting with a CIO I was meeting for the first time (luckily mouth no longer numb), ubered back to Deloitte office where I stayed too long and forgot I had to be home by 6 (cause backup backup nanny had to leave and husband was at the vet with the dog). I was stressed but my husband said you made it through the day. So my story isn’t about killing it, but celebrating the small wins

I don't think anyone is actually killing it! I go between having lows like the one your having and relative highs where I feel good and I'm handling it, but I never feel like I've got it 100% together. My advice is to congratulate yourself for what you are doing because even if it feels like you're not getting it all done, you're actually doing a lot. Then forgive yourself for what you can't get done.

I have a good girlfriend who is 7 mos pregnant. Her current gig just cut her salary due to Covid, but offers 3 mos paid maternity leave. Moms, what is the standard etiquette and timing for your parents to come help out when you have a new born? I am due in April and we live in a small 2 bedroom apartment in NYC. Every one in the family wants to come to NYC and help when the baby is here and I’m grateful but I don’t want to get too overwhelmed trying to host people in this small space. I was thinking my parents could come for a couple weeks, leave and then my siblings can take turns? Thank you! Any advice will be appreciated
