A partner put me in charge of a specific project that I ran independently. Things were going well. The client began asking me to do more and more, including revamping their system and internal trainings. The client even gave me a litigation matter. Suddenly, the partner became more involved. I was removed from meetings concerning the revamping, my trainings were cancelled, and he started micromanaging. He has now sidelined me from the project and trash talked me to the client. I am very upset.

Anyone work at a midsize to big law firm in an office with no other Black people? If you do, how did you end up connecting well with your partners and colleagues?

After 12 rounds of me vs my adhd - its still a LOVE/HATE relationship. I conclude I’m in the wrong career as a result. I love being smart, excelling, having random super human skills. But my career/stalemate with my own mind makes me feel like I am the biggest loser fuck up ever. All the time. I 1000% understand why work isn’t working out. A close work friend who just left my firm a few weeks ago blocked my number without telling me why. Before that when they left they had said to text them regularly to catch up. So I had been texting them with updates. Nothing bad at all. I guess the friend just didn’t want to deal with my regular updates but wish they had just told me not to send them instead of blocking (after all, they had requested them). It hurts. On a project right now where I am the only senior with 3 staff under me. There is a manager and director but the manager is very uninvolved and the Director is slammed - I’ve essentially been left to run the project.
