Of course. It’s always a big deal to start something like that. I took lexapro for a year, it helped. Be easy on yourself these next few days as you adjust. I would say it’s not like an enormous change - less than being drunk for example. You’re not a different person or anything like that.
It’s also true what they say that it takes a few weeks to have full effect and get used to it. Just be super kind to yourself in the meantime :)
So great that you’re giving it a go and managed to take all the steps to the point that you’re even ready to start medication tomorrow (I mean that it’s hard to find a good doctor and deal with the appointments etc). I’m happy for you that you’ve made it to this point :)
Thank you for being so kind reading this really helped! :)
I’ve been on Lexapro for almost seven years and while I was hesitant to start any meds (well into my thirties at the time) it was the right decision by far. Like C1 said, it’s not going to change who you are but for me, it’s changed how I think about myself. Best of luck to you and if this isn’t the right medication, keep trying.
Take care OP. Good that you decided to seek help, never an easy decision.I’m not a US citizen and such issues are never talked much or is a big taboo in my society. But being here I see people are more open for discussions which is encouraging.
However I do have trust issues with doctors considering medical ethics are not always the driver. How did you all narrow down on the medical practitioner?
