Just explain how you love Deloitte but this offer made you look again. Your brain has been a scatter plot of a mess because it was a tough decision, but ultimately you had to give it the green dot of approval. Tell them you are deloitted to have worked with them and are confident they will continue to make statements of impact in the marketplace. But this is the story that matters for you.

Oh boy..what pun!!

Honestly, people (especially strong ones), come and go so much that it is hard to get too upset. I find that ones who go to other firms find the grass is not greener and ones that go corporate become clients. You just go for what you think is right and the firm you leave will deal with it and hopefully cross your path later in a positive way.

Why do u need to cope with this, you’re leaving. You aren’t as important as you think you are.

likefunnysmartupliftinghelpful

Too true. Consultants are literally moulded to be interchangeable.

like

I’m going to do whatever I can to get you to stay as long as I need in order to replace you.

Did that help?

likefunnyhelpfulsmart

May not be true. Single point of view, limited data: the folks i retained still stay as their only reason was comp. I still continue to retain folks with counter. Before anyone asks, my pay grade is so low that I cant give them ahead of time

Lol let me know what your partner says

I think you're going to be surprised at how "quick and dirty" the process really is.

Just be transparent. It’s the best you can do. Plus you never know, you may decide to boomerang in the future..

likehelpfulfunny

You’ll be disappointed to know they don’t really care

likefunnysmart

She is not going to care. Don’t fool yourself

They should cope with this, not you, I went through the same resigning as a Big 4 MD, I was offered the Partnership but I politely declined leaving the door open, now I make as much as a Big 4 Partner working in a Big Tech and work half the time, so I have no regrets.

Man this just screams Deloitte arrogance.

Dude, your firm basically has an employee base the size of Cincinnati. You will be replaced - and quickly.

You are so modest @OP. Sorry to butst your bubble, Everyone is replaceable. Bye.

likesmart

Normally they want to keep you on for a bit so they can find your replacement though

like

They’ll get over it. You’re not their first and you won’t be their last.

Put in my resignation a few weeks ago. Partners don’t really care lol

That's awesome. Good for you. But also we are all replaceable.

If she’s smart - she will immediately see you as an alum - and express her sadness - but her excitement for you and wish you all the best

I’m just a Manager and I’d be sad to lose you, especially if we had a strong relationship. Tell her how influential she has been in your career and that you will keep in touch, thank her for her leadership and opportunities. I appreciate that you are leaving before bonus, we can use every penny we can get towards our pay!

likehelpful

For an SC that could be up to 30k in bonus to reallocate, just a couple SCs within the same OP and you’re up to 100k..it does make a difference. They are doing the $ allocation now, so if someone resigns up to a certain point, we could use that $.

I’ll be honest mate - you may get a non-reaction had that at Accenture. We overvalue our impact and worth to others; ultimately you are just another resource to your partner.

Nonetheless, congratulations on the new role and salary hike. Celebrate with your lads!

I just explained my reasons for leaving even mentioned the comp hike. They tried to do a counter offer but it was nowhere near the 38% hike I got
