Sounds like you aren't focused on earning points, but big thing with Residence Inn and Town Place Suites is that you earn half as many points as all other properties. Courtyard, Fairfield, and Spring Hill Suites are on the lower end, safe bet is to go for whichever is newest/most recently renovated. JW Marriotts are generally the best (without getting into the Ritz and Edition properties), followed by Renaissance, then generic Marriotts and Autograph. Since Autographs were former independent hotels, quality can vary a lot by property, but they can be quirkier. https://skift.com/2016/09/21/every-one-of-marriotts-30-hotel-brands-explained/

Ah I love Athens. No specific recommendations outside of just enjoy being in the laid back culture. Sit in a square with a beer (Fix was my preferred option) and a gyro from the nearest place (they’re all good).
In Athens you have to go to a rooftop bar at night in Monastiraki square with views of the acropolis, like A for Athens or Couleur Locale. (Don’t go during the day, it’s too hot without shade.) early morning or late afternoon walk around Plaka/Monastiraki through the shops and around Thisseo under the acropolis and past Herodotus Atticus (ancient theatre). In Santorini see the caldera, take a wine tour, go to Oia for sunset. Hang out at one of the black sand beaches. Worth it to pay for a boat tour to take you around the island to really see it. I took a bus tour where they took us to different villages, a winery, and Oia for sunset which is nice if you just want someone else to take care of planning. They were super helpful and nice.
