"The Gene" by Siddhartha Mukherjee. It was about the history and science of genetics and I feel I learned a lot about the topic, but it almost read like a novel. Incredibly entertaining and thought provoking.

Audiobook recommendations? Currently listening to The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck and I'm enjoying it, but I'd also be open to listening to novels aside from self help books.

What's with the saturation of self help/ productivity books on social media (reddit, Instagram etc.) ? Not saying I don't mind reading them, but I see this quite a bit. Know a few people who consciously only read non fiction instead. Just thinking aloud over here. Would like to hear what you guys think ?

My therapist just told me I'm depressed..do you ever feel like they tell you things you hear a lot or could have figured out on your own? Like take care of yourself, it's ok to feel such and such, etc. I'm still newer to therapy so wondering if that's the common experience? Do you ever have moments where you're like wow that actually is eye opening and I wouldn't have gotten that from reading self help books and websites etc?

Feels like books in that niche *business self-help* genre are aimed at insecure overachievers like us. There are 500 and no one got time for that shit. What is a key takeaway from 1 you found helpful?

Are there any good movies or novels that show skill development - like follow through? Self-management? Money management? I read a lot of self help books so I know a lot of the theory, and books peppered with examples help, but I feel like most 1 paragraph examples don’t five justice to how hard it may be to change a behavior.

Book recs? I love reading self-help books but sometimes they bore me. Any good fiction series out there that can get me reading more often?

Best business-oriented, but novel-style books with good writing, style, & interesting characters? Not really self-help/advise focused, more of actual literature with business themes/plots. Any recs?

Any books/self help materials for someone who is constantly worrying (and waste a lot of unnecessary time)? E.g. No matter if i pass or fail an interview, there is always something to worry about. The worrying/anxiety multiplies when I proceeded further in the interview stages. Now that I signed the offer and is pending background checks, my anxiety is off the roof as it itches closer to my starting date.

What are you reading right now? Any types of books (fun, self help, memoir, etc) welcome. Everything i want from Libby is on hold rn so i need something to read!

Anyone have an recs for self help books that help with work anxiety? I've felt so low on the totem pole since I joined in 2015 that I rarely give any opinions at the office. Obvi this is (cont'd)

I'm a very logical guy who tends to respond better to semi-academic self help books than to therapy (although I do both). Anyone have any recommended reads on anxiety disorders including PTSD?

Anyone have any recs for self help books? Looking for more relatable topics to myself I guess?

My close group of friends (10 of us) are 28-30 & have really successful careers! (We’re all first Gen working women too!)
I have a new friend who is in her mid 30’s & doesn’t really have a career. She’s in a relationship & mostly relies on her partner.
I feel bad because my close girlfriends & I are always doing things (spa days, dinners, brunches, travel) and she can’t afford to go.

Hi Recruiters!
I have a question for you. I have been looking for a remote job (in HR) at a credit union. They are so hard to come by! I just found one. One of the requirements is a degree, which I don’t have.
Do you find that most hiring managers won’t budge on that?
The recruiter is listed on the job. Do you think it is a good idea to message her and ask if it would be a deal breaker before I apply? Or should I just apply and hope for the best?
Thank you!

First time investor here - I put $25k into an E*TRADE account that I just opened - the goal being to passively invest and grow. Buying a 40% ETF, 25% Cash, 35% Stock (75% Large Cap).
