Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.

Anyone looking at this and thinking show me the crime distribution vs. this is a systematic problem and even the factors behind are a systematic issue then DM me. I’m a white female who used to look at those charts in the same way but I also believe in data and the numbers don’t lie. Let’s have a discussion.
I don't understand why crime distribution is required. Let's assume it shows that deaths correlate to crime. Does that mean we are ok with the police murdering innocent human beings?
The problem is - I can point to dozens of videos where I can see innocent black people being killed for no reason at all. Why aren't there similar videos of white folk?
Grant Thornton 1 above seems to think there isn't a problem if we look at the statistics a certain way. But no matter how I look at numbers I can't unsee all the black folk killed by the police for no reason at all. Am I supposed to assume that just because you can analyse data in a certain way - that those problems staring at me don't exist?
This is why GT1 your arguments are called racist. Because they defy the obvious and inherently argue to perpetuate existing injustices.

If you bring up violent crimes by each racial group, you're looking at only the symptoms and not the root cause. Police shootings and killings are also likely a symptom, but use of force in non-threatening situations is just an overreach of power and some racism.
If you've been subjected to hundreds of years of systemic discrimination and policy that makes your entire race a second class citizen, of course there will be higher crime and other issues. We need to treat the problem through better policies and laws that help give everyone the same advantages and opportunities.

I hate this graphic because it takes what is clearly a problem but generalized everything between the two proportions. Add share of involvement in shootings, share of violent crime committed, etc. Also if you look at where these shootings occur, typically cities, then using share of population within city would be a more appropriate subset.
I agree completely. It’s a horrible feedback loop. One of the other reasons I hate this graphic, even though I agree with the point it is trying to make, is that it has holes that get picked apart and in today’s society the soundness of your logic means a lot.
One day I wish we could talk about this without calling another racist. It’s sad to me that our profession, using data analytics in an everyday capacity, fails to: 1] make sweeping generalizations, 2] shuts down communications. I wonder if we saw all the data laid out and organized it like a project, if we could actually make informed conversations and decisions. Ironically, none of us might not like the result. Perhaps there might be an issue that we didn’t consider. Whatever is happening won’t work. Imagine having a taser pointed at your face would you shoot back potentially blinding you. Would you use deadly force? In your deepest corner, it’s about survival, Who knows what you would do. It’s sad he was killed. Every. time. How can we not move forward without respecting perspectives and agreeing on premises to further a healthy dialogue to actually change this.
Cops have different rules (which you can argue should be changed). Most cops say this was appropriate action, based on their guidelines.
Can we get a chart of criminality by race?
Would be interesting to see if we see some correlation... just saying
PWC3, thanks for posting the stats.
Wow white people sure do love arson, vandalism, fraud, and raping people. So why do so many white people think black people are more violent? (I’m white btw)
Why is this posted in consulting bowl? Are we discussing how bad the slide is? How deceitful the messaging?
Plz fix🙊
At least title of slide could have acknowledged that Hispanic proportion is not far behind.

Hey look! The thread with crime statistics got reported and taken down. How noble of who ever did that to ignore the facts.
So crazy.
Why would the population be the denominator? It’s the amount of criminal activity, which is much higher with minorities.
Wrong. Persecution is higher. Plenty of whites commit crime and face zero consequences whereas it is basically illegal (as in, you are assumed to be and treated as a criminal) to be black or brown.
The facts are everywhere & people will still try to find ways to say that it’s not racism. It’s alive and well, stop trying to mask it with your asinine comments and false statistics.
Washington Post lol
This needs to include all shootings.
state sanctioned violence....sigh
Lol D6. Take a walk. Racist.
Facts = racism according to the extreme lefties

25% of the population groups gets 75% of the shootings
One more time, 40-50million police interactions per year, 10 million arrests, 1000 deaths, ~50 of which are unarmed, 9 black. Roland Fryer (black Harvard economist) has research that shows blacks are more likely to be thrown on the ground or up against a wall, but less likely to get killed on a percentage basis. Blacks police officers kill black suspects more frequently than white officers. There are problems here that we need to solve, but we need to use the real facts so that we develop the best solutions.
I think equality can be achieved if police make sure to tear gas the armed thugs protesting in the Michigan capital next time. If they can also start shooting everyone evenly across races proportional to population % and weighted by crime rate, then all’s good

Hispanic & Latino represent 18% of the population, not 12%.
If any of us brought a slide like this to our clients, there would be lots of follow up questions. In fact we'd likely already have double clicks on this chart to explain root cause. As we've seen from this discussion, this chart is not enough.
My daughter was in ninth grade when she said thoughtfully, “It’s not the guns that are the problem. It’s the bullets.”
Still strikes me as profound.

I get the chart and I understand what it illustrates. I do not disagree with it in any capacity. What I don't understand is how this same logic isn't also applied to diversity and inclusionary statistics. There are many charts floating about illustrating the significant absence of diversity in many aspects of life; e.g. c-suite/leadership placement, but none of them illustrate the underlying message with a similar approach to population stats. It's as if everyone cherry picks the stats they want, and let's face it, you can literally find stats on every topic to support your stance.
