Good morning all I hope all is well. So I'm currently a Computer Engineer (Glorified Help desk support) for the MGM Resorts International Corporate IT office here in Vegas.

I currently have a Bachelor's in Computer Science but want to be Cloud Security Engineer. I'm debating whether to go for second bachelors at WGU in Cybersecurity while self studying Cloud certifications, or doing the Cloud Computing while self studying Cybersecurity certifications. Or just go Masters with IT concentration.

Don’t get another degree. The ROI is awful and it will take you at least two years to learn real skills. You can take AWS certification. Amazon has free introductory classes online before you commit financially to the full fledge certification program. You can also go to Cybersecurity boot camp. Fullstack Academy has great programs where they teach you real life scenarios including penetration testing and Red Team Skills.

Yes I do. The ROI on an MBA is almost negligible. By the time you finish a masters degree or MBA, your peers would have out-earned you by two years. They’re also more marketable with the 2 years worth of skills and experience. Also, some managers (like mine) won’t hire anyone with too many degrees because you become over qualified.

Lol you already have a degree in CS don’t waste your time and money on another piece of paper. Just learn cloud development through courses and apply for companies that have a cloud computing stack.

Agreed, I have a Masters in CompSci, I never had to use it and I don't even think it helped my interviews. You are much better off with an equal number of YoE than a degree once you are in the industry.

If you have to go back to school, do a Masters, don't get another 4 years bachelors, that's literally the worst deal. 4 YoE will get you 200k extra, I don't know what another bachelor would even do for you.

I always hear/read people saying that partner lives are so difficult and they're working all of the time. Is that really the case? Past 18 months aside, my perception is that they have tremendous flexibility in their schedules. Partners with younger children are generally able to either put their kids to bed or start their day with them.
I'm not trying to downplay that Partners work hard, but the way. I just don't see it as crippling to personal life as ppl make it seem to be.
