Should an ad agency be able to thoroughly check my references and ask for my entire employment history (including why I left each job) before agreeing on a salary?

I’ve had 7 interviews, met every stakeholder, was initially approached by one of them, who will be my boss. Plus I’ve had great feedback after every interview.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. Looking for input . My company's policy has always been to pay out on rollover PTO when you leave the company. My last day was Jan 8th, and I had 10 days from 2020 I was supposed to be paid on. I talk to my manager and a VP in HR, and they both confirmed I would be paid on the PTO in my Jan 15th paycheck. However, I was not paid and when I emailed about it I was told there was a PTO policy change in April of 2020 and the company no longer pays on carry over PTO...

Honestly, I’ve never been more disappointed to be an HR professional than in the last couple years. As someone who has heard and experienced the unprofessionalism during the candidate experience, I literally am questioning daily why I went into this line of work. But I tried to stay and impact the change I want to see. I just am really frustrated by an unprofessional HR Director I encountered during an interview.

I have been licensed for almost 3 years as P&C- Life / Health General lines. I started in a State Farm office and was allowed 8 general leads a day (lucky if the phone number is working) then to call thru the book to generate life business and pivot to multi-line. I worked my tail off and became the top producer with an office full of boys (nothing against it just stating) I had to transition to another company and am thriving but wondering- is there more out there? Is it misleading to just look at Total Compensation from a $ dollar value/ Total Compensation seems to be much more subjective than base salary in terms of its value. Some factors might be:

RSUs granted on dollar value or by # of shares & stock price trends
Vesting schedule
strike price on ISOs & delta between strike price and real market value

For instance, most of value in Amazon's comp seems to be granted in years 3 & 4, but it's well known that most people last only 2 years max there.
