Good morning! I'm a former teacher in the K-12 system and a current employment counsellor at a non-profit where my job responsibilities include administering and writing my own program and teaching a small class of adults on employment skills. I enjoy the work, but I'd like to transition into an L&D facilitator role in a year or so. How would you recommend I hone my skills in order to look more appealing to potential employers?

I'd say your background as an educator will make you uniquely qualified for that type of role, so you'll surely have a leg up over some of the other candidates. I'd focus on the skills you have now that would make you successful in L&D and tailor your resume accordingly. You may want to hire a professional to do this.

You might want to look into a professional facilitator certification like DDI

I think a certification can really help with the transition, but I do agree with above - I think with the skillset you have, making the transition shouldn't be too hard

Does anyone have any tips on how to stay motivated when peers with the same role seemingly get away with delivering a lower quality of work? To be clear, I don’t mean that it “appears” they are doing less work, as I know the level of effort you actually see might not tell the whole story. More so, I’m finding it hard to just keep my head down and focus on what I’m bringing to the table when I see people delivering sloppy work and phoning it in as I’m pushing to be super buttoned up.

Hi everyone, I’m joining the UT Data Analytics Bootcamp because I want to make the transition out of tech sales into data analytics. I’ve enjoyed, learned a lot but the stress has taken a toll on my health health. It’s a 7 month program that starts in December. I’m asking, would any of you who are in this field do the Bootcamp or would it be best to just go back to school for a Bachelor’s degree or a Masters in Data Analytics. Or would you advice a different path?

There are so many HR openings in tech right now so saying no people that haven’t worked in tech doesn’t make sense to me. I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Recently 1 of my clients initiated open PTO policy. The transition from set leave balance to open was smooth process. However we are running into dilemma of how we standardize different types of leaves and whether there will be a limitation to how much open PTO is used at one time. For leisure, we just limit taking two weeks max at one time. However if we have volunteer policy or bereavement policy how should we standardize it? If EE is out for longterm sick, how do we standardize time paid?
