Back when I was in private practice and I thought our expert was in trouble, judge to other side’s expert on cross: “Sir, your answers are duplicitous and evasive. Your prevaricating is annoying this court.” I had to look up “prevaricate” but it is verb I use a lot now. I like it.

I’ve been telling my boss repeatedly for over a year that the workload I’m being given is infeasible by one person for xyz reasons, and I’ve offered abc solutions that have gone unheard. I get the same criticism every month, and I advocate for myself with reasons and solutions/resource requests each time. No changes, just disrespect. Today they’re presenting me with a PIP and I’m feeling so defeated. I know it’s time to look for a new job, but any advice on keeping my head up until then?

I have my P&C license, work at an insurance agency in houston and I make 60k a year. I’ve been in insurance 12 yrs. Is that a decent salary?, I’ve never really looked around at other agencies.

I am looking for some help! I am planning to apply for intracompany transfer. But it doesn’t seems easy at all. Been told that I would need either a PPMD or a partner to support my case! New Orleans attorneys: my firm is trying to gather data on billable requirements, rates, and salaries because it’s been experiencing crazy turnover lately. If you’re comfortable, it would be helpful if those in New Orleans or similar markets can share this information. I’ll go first: 1. Firm’s primary practice: insurance defense; 2. Firm size: 25-50 attorneys; 3. Billable requirement: 1950 annual; 4. Salary range for 1-5 year associates: 70k-100k; 5. Salary for 5-8 year associates: 100k-125k.

How do you cope when you’re overwhelmed? I’ve been working until 11pm the past two weeks minus 1 day (bc it was my birthday) and I see no end in sight. We are short a few people (quit, parental leave, etc) and only have a few associates left in my group so I am getting everything from 6 partners when I am truly only responsible for 2. I know taking time for working out/etc is helpful but I don’t have the time because I need at least 7-8 hours of sleep or I can’t function. Sigh.
