Same here in Jackson County

Nothing... I am 1 of 2 National Board Certified teachers in my district. All we got was a "good job" at a school board meeting. I am starting to look for a different district.

The state should be rewarding you with a yearly bonus (Alabama does $5000) for 5 years

NOTHING

Nothing can draw us better by giving us a raise and very attractive compensation benefits and package.

District is giving emergency certification and paying for those to get their endorsement

Not really something the district has done, but lower cost of living here is a huge help in drawing more teachers.

Anyone else feeling less respected/ appreciated from Gen Ed teachers, you collaborate with? If so, how do you deal with this?

Does anyone have experience with related service providers wanting to discontinue services because the student is no longer making progress? In my eyes this is absolutely not a good reason! What are your thoughts? I’m mainly talking about OT and PT services for kids older than 3rd grade. Is there something I’m missing? I would never discontinue a reading program because a student isn’t making progress - I would work my butt off to find a solution. Is it different with OT and PT?

Help! I'm finding that as a the special needs coordinator with a caseload of kids, I've become the "go-to" for EVERY issue related to my students, even things that counselors and admin should be handling. Also, parents seem to treat me like a therapist or even a friend. I feel mean doing this, but I need to set some boundaries.

Looking for advice on a situation where a new teacher used IEP and ETR data directly (copied and pasted literally word for word) from a previous IEP/ETR directly to her IEP without adding present level data. She went so far as to keep many of the same goals from the previous year that the student mastered as well.

This was all after the IEP fell out of compliance and was a month overdue. I feel like the district and family should be aware.

Is anyone else who works in SPED dealing with students who are coming to school sneezing + coughing, cannot consistently keep masks on, and don’t understand social distancing? I absolutely used to love what I do but I’m feeling extremely anxious about guidelines not being followed within these groups. I am high risk and so are my family members. I don’t know what else to do and it might be time for me to go, but I would miss my students so much. I’m feeling stuck! Please tell me I’m not alone?

Self contained ASD room. Does anyone not follow school bell schedule? Do you start and end each hour like the Gen Ed kids ( 1st hr. 2nd hr. and so on)? If you don’t follow bells, how does that work for you and do you do anything different?

I’m a SPED Resource/Inclusion Teacher which I really love. I really like working with the Gen Ed teachers maybe because my background is Gen Ed. I’m noticing many SPED team members go straight to the principal if they have an issue with a Gen Ed teacher instead of going to the teacher directly. Is this the norm now? What happened to SPED working with Gen Ed? Maybe I’m old school, but this seems so wrong to me. Thoughts?

Hi! I'm a GedEd Middle School ELA teacher in Texas. This year I'm teaching 3 sections of coteach ELA and it's been a nightmare. I don't know if the coteach model is just a nighmare or if it's just the way my school/district has rolled it out that is making it a nightmare. Does anyone have experience with coteach?
