Google is providing all US-based employees weekly COVID tests by mail using bioiQ. Any consulting firms out there doing the same? Seems like a great perk.

Google is probably testing the product on it own employees and also selling data!!

EY sent us white panties for face masks and a paper thermometer (I didn’t even know that existed) as part of our covid kit, so without even inquiring I’m going to say with 99.9999% confidence that it’s going to be a NO.

I actually really like the white cotton masks. Super comfy!

Yes, we are eligible for free testing, and are encouraged to get tested weekly. We can choose to divulge the test results to Google or not, it’s not mandatory. The rationale here is, G is considering a pilot program to come back in the office beginning September. Assessing the level of pervasiveness of Covid amongst their employees allows for the planning committee to make decisions accordingly (not to bring people in to the smaller offices and only bring people in to the larger areas where there’s plenty of space to socially distance etc.). At the same time, it’s a way to perform capacity planning for the upcoming year, based on availability of employees. While individual results need not be reported to Google, I’m sure the testing company would provide high level metrics, which is sufficient for the planning committee to make informed decisions. It’s a win for both the employer as well as the employees.

If we get to the point of the US being at full-potential vaccination - even if the vaccines don’t block transmission - and we’re still counting cases and using testing as a prerequisite for coming into the office, something has gone terribly, terribly wrong. That may not be the case in September but it should be soon thereafter. At some point, this virus is going endemic. The vaccine will make that okay. But we’re going to need to accept that and let people behave normally.

Wow why? I didn’t think they were anxious to get back in the office. Are they? Seems like a great way to do so safely.

Booz is, for the small subset of staff who are required to be onsite during this time. And I believe that was opened to all staff for the holiday travel period, though those may have had a small fee. I didn’t read it closely bc I was staying my butt home.
