Hi everyone! Curious if anyone here works for Slack and can shed a little light on the culture and perhaps offer a referral for an associate brand manager position I just saw on LinkedIn. With the Salesforce acquisition are SF employees allowed to refer for Slack roles? Currently a senior analyst with 4 YOE looking to break into a branding role! Thanks in advance.

^^Yeah, because $5K base will make a difference in the Bay Area 🙄
This is terrible advice - equity is so much more valuable than a meager base pay increase.
Won’t budge unless there’s a competing offer which I don’t have. Any thoughts? Also on track to make manager this year so would be losing on that promotion title and pay bump. But maybe having the google brand on my resume will make up for it
You can always just say you have a competing offer. It’s really not that hard, you don’t even have to tell them from who just tell them the made up amount you want to be making. But before that just tell them you want more. People are so scared of negotiating for no reason. They already want you. Ball is in your court no one pulls their offer because you ask for more money. Have confidence
Equity is so much more valuable long term than meagre 10-15k extra cash long term. IMO 100k cash plus 200k bonus is better than 150k cash plus 150k equity, that's how I think. You don't need to worry about savings if equity component is high enough, no matter how low the cash salary unless it is too low .
Agree with M1...you may be losing cash but you are gaining equity in a company that is still growing. Going to be worth more than 150k once you become vested
Equity is refreshed once a year based on performance. As you climb, it becomes a larger proportion of your total comp here and there’s no negotiating it. Your 150k is offer is similar to the one I took three years ago (~$40k/year when spread over 4 years). This year my annual refresh was $92.5k.*
*I got promoted and transferred to the PM ladder, both being opportunities that are difficult to obtain if you don’t already work for Google
On a separate point, do your research before going - it’s a super solid brand obviously but known to be a very political place which may or may not work for you.
Good luck!
If you are in IT... onbviously Google. It’s like a stamp in the industry.
Even if google paid you 10k less. Don’t be an idiot, go with Google. Big 4 is so “90’s"
It’s with google finance
See if you can trade in equity for more cash comp even if it means lower overall comp (I.e., 140 equity for $5k extra base)
How long is the vesting period? Is 150k stock a one time offer? How much stock can you get annually?
Im waiting for an offer as well. What was your base. The pay sounds like a level 4 position
Can you all share where you ended up after negotiations?
