By Google phone, you mean Nexus users or Android users? I've been a big fan of Samsung phones. As Android OS nears perfection, you don't see a lot of the issues that deterred people from using Android until a couple of years ago - no more freezing or slow response time. So the only thing left for comparison are the features and Samsung has been #1 on that for years.
I've got the original Pixel and I love it. Reviews for the Pixel 2 don't look great though.
Test drive the Pixel 2 XL in a Verizon or Google pop-up store. The battery life is phenomenal and I run >500 apps. 5 hours SoT, Google location sharing at high accuracy and 14 accounts syncing with 13 hours standby. Remove 10% if you're taking a lot of pictures.
So much better. Husband has the pixel and the phone along with software are superior to the 8+.
Got a Nexus, now have a Pixel. Live Google phones!

📱😐 Google's new Pixel 2 is off to a rocky start.

I loved my Nexus 6P, less of a fan of the pixel XL (though it's a good phone, I don't love the visual design). I use Google Fi for service, which more than makes it worth it IMO
Samsung has a lot of bloatware that I'd rather not ever have to deal with. LG usually has great hardware but clunky design
Unpolished rock you're going to give up on eventually and just accept it.
Uhh, SC1 with the amount of variability in Android phones, it seems like you haven't seen a single one 🤔 we can all be absolutist about our bullshit but in order to be helpful to OP, direct experience is probably more useful than your unspecific/extreme comment
Google Pixel is what I meant. Thank you for all your feedback.
Love my Pixel XL. Not sure what people are talking about regarding reviews of the 2 not being good. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/10/pixel-2-and-2-xl-review-the-best-android-phone-you-can-buy/
Pixel XL is a great phone, look & feel is a bit iPhone-y for my tastes, but if you're converting, that may be better for you! Android Oreo has been bomb so far
