I applied for some senior positions at AbbVie online 2 weeks ago. The status appears as “resume received” for some positions, status of one position appears as “under review” while another position shows “in progress”. Any idea how long their hiring team takes to get back following the application?

P1 you are wrong at so many levels. Author, 20% seems high but you can easily get that when you move from one big4 to another while staying in international Tax. I agree with you that growth potential is higher in international tax. With elections upon us, the tax code is going to change again and will impact the international tax as well, which means more demand for what you do.
If money is the big motivator for you, wait a few more months and when the hiring freeze is over apply with another big4 and you can easily get the 20%. I was offered 20% to joint international tax and my background was a different tax group.

I’m in IT and I think there’s a high chance the workload will blow through the roof next year. IT is a good area but it’s very specialized and hard to get out of later on. A good rule of thumb is if you look at your managers or SMs, is there anyone’s job/role you could see yourself doing? If not, it might be good to think about pivoting to federal. There is typically more exit options.
