Got a job offer in the EU but is it too risky to move abroad given Omicron? I’d move in the spring around March. I have another offer in the US that may let me move abroad too but I like the other company more..not sure if COVID should weigh heavily in this decision?

Audit Partners — Do you see longterm profitability of audit in general? Is it going to be worth being a partner, financially, given the risk you take on, in 10-15 years? With audit bids increasingly being driven way down by competition, & lower level resources demanding (much) higher pay than it was historically, I’m not convinced the partner track is still as enticing as it was pre-Covid. Seems like the job market/higher staff pay alone has GOT to be taking a huge cut into partner pay.

I’m curious to hear how everyone handles their caseload and how that’s changed amid COVID. I’m feeling a little unorganized and need some insight on how others are doing things.

I am having trouble distinguishing between a bad depressive episode and COVID—overload. Every day my job feels more pointless and silly. Running around changing slides in decks and creating things that no one needed, wanted or asked for. I am making no impact on the world except perhaps by paying taxes. I would love to find a job that felt meaningful to me, but maybe right now nothing would?

Before Covid my husband and I kissed good bye at the door and went off to our respective positions and we came home and we recapped our day. My husband is a principal by the way. Now I hear every phone call, feel every stress, listen to the tension in his voice during calls, and see the fluctuations in his mood throughout the day. It’s like I’m not only only absorbing the stress of my own job but the stickiness of his stress feels like it’s latching on to me. I can’t avoid it.

With omicron changing COVID into a less severe form similar to a flu, is the end in sight or will the state and local government of California and Los Angeles continue to milk this as a supposed crisis? Will masks ever go away in this place?

I am heading into IVF and the clinic made us sign a document saying if one of us is tested positive for COVID, the whole procedure will be canceled. The testing must be performed at their site. My husband’s mom has been organizing a big family trip for two months. I already excused myself from that trip. But I am very worried my husband my get covid from this trip. 3.5 yrs into sobriety, I’m 25 years old, I have my masters, senior at my firm, passed REG a few weeks ago and have my eyes set on being done with the CPA by Jan 2021 and law school after.

Posting this to say that I had a DWI and a felony drug charge but AA gave me the tools to turn it around. Covid is rampaging our lives but we can still be growing spiritually. Sometimes it’s okay to hand the keys over and let someone else drive. You can and you will get through this.

I love how connected & convenient NY is. It always feels lively (bar covid) & it's easy to find something to do but I always wanted to give LA a shot, even if it's for a year. Nice weather year round, film industry, the beach, more space all seem like pros. Doesn't really feel like a city though. I imagine the lifestyle change is a big one.

I started a firm with three other colleagues about a year and a half ago. We all came from the same bigger firm and now obviously we are considered a very small. We want to make our first hire and hire someone for around $100,000 as a manager to manage around $200,000 of work. They came back at $120,000. After taxes and benefits that’s $150k to manage and prepare $200k of work. Anyone own a smaller firm who can share opinion? How much work should one manage for that kind of salary?

Do EY GDS provide any WFH one time allowance for new joiners?

I've been a dental assistant for 11 years , and I think I'm done . I feel the pay is never enough and 9/10 we do the most work in the office . It's never commensurate to what we do and no matter how much experience you have your still 3-5$ more than someone fresh out of school . I’d to get a job in a small architecture firm or work for a developer to help build up my network. For the past 6 years I’ve taught high school architecture and engineering and done real estate on the side. I have an industrial design degree and tremendous construction and real estate sales knowledge. I also started architecture school but stupidly switched to industrial design.
