Former Audit/FAAS/Accounting Advisory Managers - What role did you exit for? I'm looking at a GL Accounting Manager role and the recruiter is telling me that's impossible because I don't have direct experience with a close/GL accounting. Is he full of shit?

Possibly a very stupid question but here it goes: just accepted a an exempt position. I’m supposed to be working 40 hours a week and 1650 billable hours a year. Obviously it’ll be more hours during busy season. My question is am I still required to work 40 during non busy season as long as I get my 1650 throughout the year? Is that different from firm to firm?

I had interviewed for the IBM Lead Azure Architect position with GBS and it went well.
Any idea what the salary range is for this role.
I am based out of Nevada.
Recruiter initial mention 220-230k.. appreciate any input if there is room for negotiation. I have 12 yoe with azure certified expert and aws professional and 5 years hands on cloud expertise.

Hate the culture at current company, real backwards and want to make a switch. Problem is I only shine here because everyone else is too junior or lazy or uneducated. I keep getting offers 50-30k less for similar position though. Does it make sense to move companies and make less money? Or stick it out? Anyone have experience making a similar decision? Senior litigator debating between an in-house senior counsel litigation role at a tech company vs. SEC/FTC type role. Totally different animals, I know. Just here for some thoughts from the hive mind. What would you do and why?

I have a new Manager who does not have a great reputation for Management. We have a lot of the same responsibilities in that we each manage a portfolio of accounts but since the change he has began treating me like his assistant - doesn’t ask about my workload, accounts or have a formal 1:1. Instead calls or messages, tells me to say he needs to ‘offload’ things to me. Messages me while I’m on leave about me picking up more work for him. Any advice on how to have an appropriate conversation?

Structuring a role just above entry level…

What level of experience is just above “entry” level? 2-3 years experience? Is it reasonable to argue that be a salaried position.
