Got a request for my first GLG call as an SME. What should I expect? Any tips? Very new to the process so advice or high level explanation of how this works would be very appreciated!

Please throw out numbers. Even if they are wild guesses. I just need something to plug into my model.

Ugh the worst is when it's like pulling teeth getting them to estimate

From being on the other side... be ready to give a ton of detail. Nothing worse than an interviewee with short answers

like

Price is all between you and the network.

Again from the other side, don’t be generic and make up stuff. Trust me they will ask you a ton of stuff and expect magical answers given they are paying quite a bit for a brief discussion.

Could you expand on that a little bit please? Basically having concrete examples would be more helpful, and if I don’t know the answer I should just say so?

I get contacted for stuff like this - I’ve been ignoring the requests! Are companies like prosapient legit and is it ok to moonlight like this?

You are not allowed to speak about your current employer at all. When they reach out to you they typically mention it. Something like “we want to learn more from an industry or customer perspective, nothing confidential, non public, or current employer related”

Use flowery language and verbose quotes for my quote slide. And don't ramble too much, give detailed but efficient answers to the questions or people will just cut you off

I work at "FairWay Furniture" right out of undergrad I was placed on team X where the salary is 70k and more in line with what I studied in college. About six months in, my org went through a restructure and I was moved to team Y that is more technical and thus makes ~85k. I have been told my salary will not change until my next review 6 months away. I feel that I should be paid according to my team. WWYD and how do I approach this situation? Definitely would not recommend fairWay...

I see people saying they are a SC 1,2,3 etc. what does that mean? I thought it meant amount of years in the role but recently saw a post of something being hired in as a SC4, is there anything on our profile or on record that I can check to see where I am? Do they take note of where you are on the spectrum when you start or is this just recruiter talk

After your first job, how relevant is GPA. For context, I went to a school that is very well known for grade deflation (Deloitte had a “suggested” minimum of 3.2 here) and I studied statistics, a particularly rough major at the school. Long story short, GPA was between a 2.9 and 3.0. This wasn’t due to slacking and I’ve done well at Deloitte so far with plenty of experience to speak to. Would my GPA still block me from certain firms, like any of the MBB firms or a Tier 2 consulting firm?

Does anyone know someone who was placed on a pip who then found a way to get on medical leave so could apply to jobs while still employed? (Idea being that you greatly extend your opportunity to look for jobs while still being able to say you’re at current firm. Example: Person gets 1 month pip, gets medical leave, then is able to look for new jobs for many months rather than 1 month. If you don’t know anyone, any opinions on how this could work?
