Pretty sure s/he means individual contributor
Thanks for the reply. No, the position is FTE, and yes, greater with the tax considerations.
I assumed internal consultant 🤣
OP, if you are getting in a specialist field as an IC....with scope to see greater impact, that opens doors for coming back at the next level with great experience
I’d really say it depends on what you want to do long term. Manage large teams? Do strategy decks as an individual contributor? Have better upward mobility in your career path? Stop traveling? Work less hours? Sell vs. deliver work? A lot of factors would lean towards B4 consulting vs. that kind of industry “consulting” role.
Sigh.
So you'll be an independent contractor and not an employee? Is your 20% greater taking into consideration tax implications? Your IC relationship is much easier to sever than a traditional employee relationship. Why are they doing it as an IC?
@SM 1 that's not a bad way to describe the new role either.
Take it. Don’t burn bridges.
@M2... To some extent, I think it's hard to leave without inconveniencing someone at this level. Do you suggest giving lots of notice?
OP I would not give more than 2 weeks personally, but it’s a judgement call. If you have the offer accepted and guaranteed in writing, all background checks etc. and they are flexible with start date, then you have the option of giving more notice. I did this with my first move (from Andersen to a competitor) and although I offered 4-6 weeks notice they booted me out in less than 2 weeks (rather unprofessionally I thought at the time).
Could be less of an issue for Accenture when going to industry, but once they know you are leaving I think they will try to replace you on any client projects ASAP.
Definitely interested in work life balance. Okay with doing individual work.
I would expect you might have less room for promotion and raises in a position like that, but of course “it depends”. If you’re OK with that then sounds like it might work for you.
