Got an offer at BCG. IBM GBS or BCG? Relatively new to consulting and I have a specialized skill set if that’s why people are wondering how I ended up here.

How can this be a serious question? IBM GBS is a failed consultancy that is now regularly laying off even high performers due to how poorly their business is faring. BCG is one the the three most respected consulting firms globally

Hey OP, are you joining generalist consulting or a specialist track? Either way it’s a great option, but I’m always curious to learn the background of people coming in to our different offerings

We are doing some super super cool stuff in Gamma, DV, Technology Advantage, and some of our other specialty shops. Welcome!

Nice Humble brag

Just some insight into why he's humble bragging. Everyone likes the feeling of being wanted and having options. Whenever I see someone hate their job and get another job offer, all of a sudden they're weighing the option of staying and going over the pros / cons of each. Don't blame them, I do the same.

This isn’t a real post and it doesn’t matter if you’re a secretary at BCG. Go. Go fast. Everyone knows that — you did not need to ask

like

Are those specialized skills the kind that make you a nightmare for certain types of people?

like

OP are you joining as secretary? Only reason you would probably ask this. It’s probably still worth the jump for the interesting story

Above The Law website. This site is great for reviewing big law salary and bonuses but besides that it’s tremendously awful. Every single post is political- based with an extreme left wing bias. Don’t believe me or haven’t seen it yet, go on their main page and just read the titles of each article there.

Seeing how a huge number of start-ups get funding nowadays (money is very cheap), would you agree it is easier to get rich by being an entrepreneur or sticking to the consulting grind at say $100k-$250k/year? I know there isn’t a definitive answer here, but curious to hear what other people think.
