Got an offer at one of the MBB and in process for Accenture in their Strategy division (CEO & ES). For MBB, would be coming at a level below (PL/EM) with 1 year tenure and Accenture would be lateral (SM). Leaning towards the MBB offer as it has been my dream to get into MBB and the overall value proposition.

Hi fishes, in urgent need of your suggestions.
One of my friend is having offer from Oracle Pune for software developer role in Oracle store team. but he does not have clear idea of the role whether it will be operations, support or development work.
Does anyone know what kind of work is there in store team. Also, is it possible to change the project once we get inside?
Urgent suggestions required...
Thanks!
I managed to secure an interview for JP Morgan Chase. This is for Asset & Wealth Management Global Private Bank Analyst program 2023. I ask my recruiter and he revealed me some info. This is a single interview session of 2 hours before getting any offer. I will face 5 interviewers. This will be all behavioral. For people who got into JP Morgan Chase, do you have any tip for me to pass this interview for this entry level role? JPMorgan Chase

Go MBB.
ACN SM here (not Strategy). Strat is our "looks nice on the marketing slides" bit but is actually comparatively insignificant in terms of revenue in comparison to other services.
This is a publicly traded company here. Go ahead and have a wild guess on who gets a pat on the back for being "the smart ones" and who gets the bulk of the bonuses and promotions?
Yup ... shareholder value rules!
I would seriously consider how many people giving you advice workshop MBB while not knowing anything about it.
I would seriously consider the ACN role.
SM equivalent at Accenture should be coming in as PL here so you are taking a significant career hit.
If you come to MBB as a lateral you will only do digital consulting - tech strategy at best but we also use these guys a lot for PMO etc.
It would be nearly impossible for you to be doing corporate strategy - we have a separate stream that we grow from As for that, and we dont mix them (ie you will have separate town halls etc.)
You will also work much longer hours, and also expect to get no real client time until you are well tenured PL. true client relationship won’t happen until close to partner or at partner (non-equity; pre MDP).
You need to consider your life stage and where you are at in your career and what you want out of it. You have little chance of getting better quality work than you’ll get at Accenture (work likely the same). You’ll have a significantly more junior role, be working much longer hours.
If it works out maybe in 4 years + it’ll be worthwhile financially. And possibly you’ll be one of the more successful laterals. Based on the fact they are double down levelling you, it doesn’t appear the recruiting team think so.
I hope you find this advice helpful. A lot of people here have an MBB or bust attitude that doesn’t help people make good career choices
BCG2 I think you’re misreading their original post. They’d come in at PL, a step down from SM.
Nah, go MBB unless you really like tech. Our CEO & ES practice is the best at accenture but skewed by our overall tech focus
Thank you ACN1. That’s helpful
Go MBB please. There’s a lot of negative sentiment in Strategy and we’re seeing loads of people leave. Comp has been flat and may even drop since they’re reworking standardized progression point pay.
Thank you SC1. Is the negative sentiment mainly due to comp or a bunch of internal issues?
You need to seriously consider a risk that you may not make it to the next level at MBB. It’s notoriously difficult for senior lateral hires to survive the first 2 years.
Sure
Currently leaving accenture strategy for MBB
Can you dm me? For some reason it won’t let me
Second what A1 said. Go MBB 100 out of 100 times
Thank you C1
I think the answer is more nuanced - lateral experienced hire into MBB has a very high burnout rate and most people don’t make the next level. Plus it takes time to learn the MBB way - depending on which firm you join and in my experience most experienced hires hate it unless they come in as an associate.
That said as someone in ACN CEO practice - it’s interesting and good work but you really need to want to make MD for the financials to work - and your exits won’t be as strong. But it’s not a slam dunk
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and advice. Really appreciate the time you took to help me evaluate the situation. I have decided to sign the MBB offer.
Which firm?
MBB; the pay will be similar if not higher
Thank you C2, P1, and ACN3. I see your point P1 about the half step down.
Go to MBB call acn back in a year or two then get acn to give you a raise and a promo easy money
I'm on the same boat, am a AP/Principal at a Tech Consulting firm and got offered a PL/EM role at MBB. Careerwise seems a stepback and moneywise a small increment.
Also being close to my 40s makes me wonder if all the burnout (over me and my family) in the next 1 to 2 years will be worth it ..
As a former ACN employee… take the MBB offer for all the reasons above
Good choice! (Coming from some downleveled when moving to BCG)
Where are you leaving from?
From T3.
