Got an offer for Atlassian Canada - senior product manager. Initial offer is 160k base +15% annual bonus (24k) + 20k sign on bonus. RSU is 220k USD payable over next 4 years. There's no RRSP match (401k match equivalent). Considering its Atlassian, and current market rate, I think base is low. I would like it to be bumped upto to 180k. The recruiter earlier said the top of the pay range is 165k, which I feel is not really top but maybe median? Help me negotiate please; historically suck at it.

Most likely there’s room. I was hired at a wage they said was their top they could go to then I found out the top was actually 30k over where I’m currently at. Awesome you got into atlassian..applied there a few times but nothing came from it

like

Yes what I suspect is the recruiters likely quote the mid point of the range as their top, as they don't want to hire someone at the top of the range(no room to grow further in that position before becoming eligible for the next level).

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

looking for some advice! I’m coming up on my 1 year at the company I work for. I am a General Manager of a mid-sized lodge, I manage about 12-15 employees and have no assistant manager. The job also requires you to live in property (rent free) because there is no 24/7 desk agent. Meaning every night at 9pm the after hours calls come to me. In the last 4 months I have started training new managers in the region and even going to other hotels to help onboard / open them. Continued in comments

Is negotiating offers the norm now? I’ve been at my company awhile and at the time I was hired they said they don’t do negotiations, take it or leave it and they’d offer the next person. I do believe we renegotiate now, however I’m not sure if it’s the rule, the exception, or somewhere in the middle?

I am currently doing my full-time internship at a startup where I am getting paid 17$/hr. I will most probably be continuing with them in Fall as a part-time and asked for an upgrade to 25$/hr. I asked for that upgrade because I already have around two years of experience outside of Canada as a social media executive in a multinational company. I am currently doing a masters degree at Concordia so I believe 25$/hr would be more appropriate. Am I aiming too high?

I recently interviewed for a great company and they are offer me a base + commission salary of which the base salary is much lower (15k less) than what I was making in previous role and is also below the industry rate. They say the commission will make up for my expectations. Now I am in a bit in bind because this is great company and will give me good exposure for future opportunities but I also want to negotiate the salary. How can I approach this?

looking for pointers here.. I accepted an offer with KPMG for their Fed audit position $75k plus sign on bonus of $2k and potentially $6k if i get the clearance but i’m starting to feel like i shortchanged myself by not attempting to negotiate since it my first job out of college but i had previous experience in the hospitality industry. should I look elsewhere or is that a standard salary for entry level ?

I'm a young POC female in a male dominated field. I have never negotiated a salary before and accepted on the first offer. Upon further field investigation, I feel like they low-balled me by a lot- at least 15-20k lower than average. Is it risky to ask to renegotiate? Or would it be in bad taste to decline to sign the documents? TYIA

Clawback clause in current contract: been in role for over 2 yrs, it was an internal move that required relocation. Relocation was approved shortly after (over 2 yrs ago) but covid meant the actual move and start of my contract with new subsidiary was delayed, I was paid by the previous subsidiary meanwhile. I got small relocation package. Would internal move be subject to a buy-out/clawback clause if I leave now and if yes, is it time in role or time under new contract? Any experience? Thanks!
