Got an offer from Grant Thornton as Manager (with Advisory) Currently a Senior 3 with EY with a very high probability that i am going to make it as a Manager with EY next year. If you were in my ....

I would not go to GT, but it depends on comp (EY vs GT). Maybe try to get EY to match?

To add, senior to Manager proton at ey is around 15% with PBB and manager bonus. I don't think it's worth it to leave for 10k

Yeah stay at EY, you’ll make much more there as a manager. GT is getting too good of a deal at your expense.

GT is not a regional firm, but its got a smaller footprint than any B4 firm. The bonuses are low and pay is generally lower. What you will generally get is a better wlb but considering they’ve gone through 2 rounds of layoffs with a 3rd being imminent this year, I wouldn’t leave regardless of how much they offer.

3rd isn't imminent, for what it's worth. Still doesn't change the fact that OP should stay where he's at.

I’m Senior 2 at GT making 120 so the fact that you were undercut should help seal the deal for you.

With EY, a year later you will be either Manager with potentially 132-140k or S4 with 120k @ 5% (worst case). Either way money cannot be a factor. Network and pipeline is likely better at EY. Only reason I would even consider is if they offered Manager with 140k.

shoes, what would you do? Money is not much different, and work is almost the same roles. Would you go to GT (not sure of their reputation, pipeline etc. -asking partners always gets you a rosy answer) vs stick with EY (more competition to get to Manager, so hogh prob, but no assured move up, but higher reputation, established network etc.) Any suggestions and thoughts are really welcome, as I have never switched before!

So it seems that everyone thinks that I am being lowballed ... this is good to know! Ok experienced folks, any suggestion how to go about letting GT know that they have lowballed and if they bump then we are talking (though overwhelming opinion is stick with EY, I hear that and am almost 99% convinced, just loking at options)

Agreed with D1. Just counter with an exact number and see if they budge.

Stay at EY jump to director.
