Got an offer from my current client that’s around 20% lower than I was expecting. How should I go about negotiating without pissing them off in case I don’t sign due to comp mismatch?

I would just be open about what you were looking for without specifically requesting them to match it. Potential mismatches are common and I believe it’s the easiest to be transparent upfront

Agreed.

Interviewing with your client is a bit like dating while married. But hey, to each, theirs.

😂 i didn’t have to interview

Also for those that may wonder I’m not being greedy especially during Corona, but the existing offer is not good enough for me to leave my current job with all risks adjusted (including Corona).

20% isn’t too far apart. Now is the time to show your hand and tell them what your “yes” is. They don’t want you to be underpaid, just not overpaid. If they know the number then the decisions on them. Also make sure your language is right (from a contract/legal angle). It serves two purposes both functional and attitudinal. Don’t reject the offer or counter it, speak hypothetically, with pronouns and adjectives from their perspective. Good luck! Hope you get what you want!

I have 8 yoe as a BA. It's been 2 months since I joined a Big4 as a Scrum master. I was asked to shadow the project manager but the person is just not helpful. I am not looped/forwarded any emails, no client introduction has been done, no tasks, no one contacts me all day long except for the one call in a day where I am the silent spectator. Am I in trouble?

I work in a 7-attorney firm with a national presence. Partly because I’m only a few months in, I work a roughly 8-6 day. I’m also new to billing and often find myself working all day and billing just 4 hours. Whenever I bring this up to the partner, he says it’s good we’re not over billing our client. We don’t have minimum billable hours so it doesn’t matter much for the firm’s sake but I think I’m missing out on learning the important skill of billing my time. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Hi Fish! Any insight into director level comp at Danaher?

Hi. I have a question. In a world where COVID is under control, how would you feel if your companies went back to being fully in the office? But maybe others were adopting a hybrid model- some days remote, some days in the office. Would it make you want to work elsewhere? How important is being able to work remote (at a location of your choice, not at client /travelling) a few days a week to your job satisfaction?
