I wouldn’t recommend switching for that big of a decrease if you can avoid it. I would let them know that at that level it doesn’t make sense for you to make the change.
That’s a $20k a year difference. Why would you want to leave your current job for such a drastic difference. Even if they gave you a sign on bonus, you’ll be losing your annual salary.
Negotiate the salary.
1. Your experience
2. Past compensation reference
3. Market rate for the role
Also ask for sign-on bonus, etc.
I don't think you can make that up with other things unless you don't currently have benefits like health insurance. Have you told them that the salary they offered isn't enough to make the switch? Are you in a position to negotiate with them?
I assume you mean 10k less? You can ask for a sign on bonus of 10k but why would you accept a pay decrease?
If your getting paid hourly then I doubt you can’t negotiate other perks. Just ask for the extra $10 it’s not a big. And definitely think of switching to a salaried position
