[query] Is it a good idea to say a firm No due to medical reasons to a new night shift project I'm hired in?Accenture
I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am
I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)
Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?

This may sound harsh, but I’ll say what has gone unsaid: no one cares about medical excuses; outputs/outcomes are all that matter to your client, so that’s all that matters to your leadership.
You need to find a way that works for you if you want to survive. If time management is your issue (furthered by ADHD), then find help with that. Plenty of resources, guides, and people (incl leadership!) who can help you.
Some personal context, if it’s helpful: I struggle with the same, and I’ve spent my entire career finding how to make ADHD work for me (& work around it, when necessary) instead of against me.
You can do it. And ignore A1 - you can absolutely survive a PIP if you turn your performance around. Good luck!
SA2 - it really takes a while and sounds rough what you’ve experienced.. check howtoadhd on YouTube, ask HR to help find tactics that work for you, hire a coach, get on meds/find you dose. Have to do lists / hourly schedule - also in front of you so you don’t forget, find a body double. Literally super hard and lots to do but one day it’ll be clear. Maybe also find a job that works? I’m a consultant so I need to prepare for my clients at time X otherwise I’m embarrassed for not being ready. Yes I do everything last min still but without real deadlines I’d also get nothing done.
Two suggestions:
1. It is rare that people fully recover from PIP and manage to regain career growth trajectory at the same employer. Start looking for an exit, it sounds like you are "burned" at your current employer.
2. You are likely to be able to both buy time and get special severance terms if you your employer has reasonable reason to fear Legal or PR pain. A situation similar to yours happened a to close friend he/she managed to scare HR into paying a 20 week "severance" after signing a separation agreement with waiving all claims, non-disparage and other restrictive clauses. Document everything.
You can DM
It’s time for you to submit for an accommodation. Please do the needful. Don’t let them take your job over this.
What should I ask for?
Not much help aside from I feel you. This was my fear taking medication as well. Personally, I think that yes, you should give them documentation then if they continue forward seek action.
Idk how much you can do since you didn't tell them before you started taking it, unfortunately. Best of luck though:/

I don’t usually think that getting into the medical details is that helpful, but this seems appropriate in this case.
Consider getting a medical note to explain, but also clearly think about what you need to be successful in this role, what the barriers are, and what potential accommodations could help that are realistic considering the nature of your work. Work with a doctor or therapist to make sure you’re considering the right elements and don’t just guess by yourself.
If you approach it by communicating the issue and focusing constructively on next steps, you can keep your job and there’s also a chance that you won’t face stigma going forward. However, last minute asks with 48 hrs notice (rather than say 2 hrs notice) and heavy workload (common in professional services) may be normal for the role, and potentially not unreasonable to demand. Think about what could work for you.
Not sure how much it would help in an official/legal way, but it’s probably worth it imo. Probably a decent chance they’ll be understanding
Is your performance related to your ADHD? What kinds of things need to be shaped up?
These seem like reasonable things to chat with them about. At this point it doesn’t seem like you have much to lose.
We’re you going okay before the medicine or had it been had the whole time?
I was new so I can’t say. I started ramping up right around the time I got on it
