Happy to read this. Power to you OP. I know these are difficult times to land a job of one's liking, but I'm glad to see this turned out well for you. All the best mate

Don’t forget to do a walk by whoever fired you.
I can only imagine the satisfaction 😂 can’t wait for my turn
This should play out well long term. I see no issues arising here.
C1 come join us here at D! You’d fit right in…and probably fast-tracked lol.
On the real that passive aggressive energy you’re holding will work out well for you. I, for one, see no issues there.
For context: I was part of a team with very toxic leadership. My manager couldn’t stand me despite me being known as the most sociable and friendly person. Clients absolutely loved me and would mistake me as manager. A lot of shady stuff happened - EG a director would ask me to not book all my hours due to “budget constraints”. This happened quite a lot and agreed to do it as it might win good favour with them and was new to the game. In the end, my utilisation as Consultant was 30%ish despite having worked myself to the home on numerous occasions.
That was their chance to fire me. It hurt, but in the end I felt relieved. But it’s been a very long, mentally and emotionally difficult six months. I’m now in area I know like the back of my band and I truly have expertise on. I’ve taken those learnings and I’m moving forward. Screw that manager, brighter things only from now.
IBM 1 is correct though could have done them at tribunal but the mental exhaustion of going through that probably wouldn’t be worth it anyway….although I’m just guessing as someone who has luckily always had good teams/experiences. (Even the bad ones can be good for development)

That’s wild lol. I hope you are incredibly successful and prove your old team wrong.

Why did you want to go back?
Just kinda went that way. I was in a highly technical IT field before and I just wasn’t cut out for it. It was like I was a pair of skis on the road.
In the time I was unemployed, I interviewed with two B4 firms in a more business-oriented field and realised that, holy crap, this is perfect.
So then I looked at my old firms career site, saw they had an opening and thought ‘screw it, let’s go’. Now here we are. I know I’m still in the honeymoon phase but I can tell this team is rock solid with amazing leadership and managers.
Tread lightly and keep us posted post 90 days.
Absolutely. Wanna get my probation period cleared first
I'm happy for you. Clarification: did you actually get fired, meaning terminated for cause, or just laid off?
Fired. They used underutilisation and some other BS reasons as evidence to fire me. I got ethnically discriminated, mistreated numerous times (things I couldn’t tangibly prove) and I was new to a very technical field and so they used the work I struggled to produce - with no support - as means to fire me
Low Utilization/low performance is grounds of being let go at all consulting firms. We still “lay off” those people. You were likely laid off, not fired, hence why you were able to rejoin. There’s a difference, a technicality that matters.
I appreciate the clarification. So if I were to come to you and say that I got laid off vs. I got fired - do you take one as being a little more positive than the other?
