What are some good books to read if I want to learn how to better show up for the team as a manager?

2nd year here: just got reamed multiple times by a partner in a checklist call for not having enough detail in my open items list. Thing is the draft i had sent the midlevel was far more detailed, they told me to remove it all and make it as barebones as possible. Do I just take this L? I'm pretty annoyed because the partner mentioned it TWICE in the call with clients for my lack of detail.

Midlevel didnt apologize or even acknowledge this issue. I've never been so mad in my career.

Had an associate of mine recently confront me and say he has a crush on me. Told him nope and that would be very unprofessional. He has reassured me that this won’t impact our working dynamic but lately there’s been a lot of pushback on any direction given to him or the team. I’m growing concerned he is holding something against me.

How should I approach this?

What do you do if the partner who hired you is nice in social settings but awful to work for? And you can’t seem to escape from working for that partner. This partner doesn’t respond to your emails for critical issues that you need input on, doesn’t return your phone calls and voicemails and throws you under the bus in front of the client to blame you for her mistakes. The seniors are too busy. Just joined this firm so lateraling isn’t a viable option.

Not 100% sure if it has to do with race of if my supervising partner has trust issues, but I am tired of being told to draft correspondence and having the whole document changed by my supervising partner. I know I’m an excellent writer and I have others read the documents and they confirm that it’s well written but when I submit it my boss—she strips my voice. Hi! First time working with a larger company - suggestions on handling pronouns at work?

I’ve worked with smaller agencies where it was easier to bring up. Now I’m on a larger team, talking to/referencing people I’ve never met. I’m less concerned about my own pronouns and more concerned about how to make sure I’m using the correct pronouns for the people I work with.

I’ve been structuring sentences to avoid gender specific pronouns but would love to hear suggestions. Thanks!

The owner states that the values are important to her etc yet my manager violates these values and is involved in unethical behavior frequently.
