Tech Mahindra Hey guys, I attempted Hackathon by tech Mahindra (for jr java developer 1-3 yr exp). After 3 days I received a call from hr confirming that I have been shortlisted and took hr round on that call. Later I received a document verification mail asking for all essential docs which are required for joining, but didn't received any offer letter yet. When I cross checked mail address with my friend in tech Mahindra, he confirmed that such hr exists with same e-mail id. Is it normal in tech Mahindra?

I always feel that way. Tech moves very fast and it is only getting faster every year.
Keep up with certs, especially if you are on the bench these days.
Neither AWS nor Kubernetes requires real coding though. They will get you far in the consulting world though, but you will be a real IT consultant, not developer by then.
Stick with algorithms and choice of language/IDE/librarians/framework if you want to eventually exit back as a developer.
Yep, and I’ve been doing everything in my power to keep it that way despite the firm and leadership trying to shove and bucket me back into it.
I became a consultant to get away from code, not work with code for half the pay I’d have gotten if I chose just to stay in tech.
Apologies on my part for being unclear. When I was doing SWE, I was not pidgeonholed. But when I joined consulting, leadership/the firm were like “hey he knows how to code, put him on a coding role”. Resource-wise, makes complete sense to the firm, and I get that. But I left to NOT code, had I wanted to I’d just have stayed in tech.
I always thought I’d be an SWE. I went to a well known Bay Area college for this, interned at the typical companies, performed well, and got return offers from all. I don’t hate coding. But it dawned on me during my internships that I couldn’t do this every day of the year. It just wasn’t my thing, so to speak. I wasn’t passionate about it and just didn’t care about coding in general so I didn’t “fit in”, on top of which I hated the tech bro culture. By the time I discovered this, I couldn’t change my major. I didn’t have enough money left for more semesters and if I wanted to change my major I wouldn’t be able to graduate on time. So I grudgingly stuck with it and began to sharpen my business skills on the side.
I’m not sure if consulting is where I’ll always be, but it gave me the out that I wanted. Spending my days solving problems (even dumb ones) for clients, meeting people, and seeing the world from a new viewpoint keeps me going, at least for now. SWE didn’t.
Same.
How do you feel about it?
Update: Got laid off. Time to find my dream role :)
Which one do you recommend?
Side projects. It’s all about the side projects
Same
I’m definitely feel like my skills are not being utilized and that I’m way behind my classmates who are all in product development. But I guess for the current situation, I’m happy for having a job
I can relate to that. I was working with a product called API Management. I breathed and lived with seeing many different solution architectures for this technical product.
This is for the best OP. Wishing you Good Luck🍀
