Is there a difference between 250k salary and 400k salary? Both salaries are watching spiderman on opening night. Both salaries have food on the table and a roof over their heads. One has a 65in tv vs the other has 75in. One drives a BMW the other a Tesla. I make around 250k and to increase my salary I will have to work a lot more. Is it really worth having more money, at some point it is just a number and quality of life doesn't improve. In fact it could be worse with the extra hours.

I am noticing that McKinsey is increasingly recruiting at non-elite schools (very roughly speaking not top 15 schools). At my old undergrad, 5 years ago the most competitive firm to show up was EY. This year McKinsey took 4 non-internship full hires. Why is McKinsey going “down market” for recruiting? Are elite school kids losing interest in consulting so McK has to cast a wider net? Or is McK seeking a wider pool for other reasons? I advise undergrads on consulting so want to be best informed.

Despite being fully vaxxed and not immunocompromised, my spouse is terrified and paralyzed by COVID.
