Got into MyBusiness today and found out I'm the biggest spender on a 25 person engagement in virtually every category. To be fair I have traveled the most at this point. Do higher ups look at this?

I laughed out loud when I read the first four words in your post, "Got into mybusiness today". That sounds really funny for a non EY person.

If your the one who has been there the longest it will fall within expectations. You also maybe the one paying for others during dinner etc. As long as your within the company policy it's not really an issue. It only comes up when there is a reason to look into it.

Anyone else alt traveling to Barranquilla, Columbia this weekend?

Is there a difference between 250k salary and 400k salary? Both salaries are watching spiderman on opening night. Both salaries have food on the table and a roof over their heads. One has a 65in tv vs the other has 75in. One drives a BMW the other a Tesla. I make around 250k and to increase my salary I will have to work a lot more. Is it really worth having more money, at some point it is just a number and quality of life doesn't improve. In fact it could be worse with the extra hours.

You must be a consultant, cos I'd fully utilize you

Project wants to keep me on even though I do nothing all day. I mean I literally sit and watch YouTube videos from 9:30am to 3pm and check out to the hotel. Client loves me. WTF do I do I’m trapped

I am noticing that McKinsey is increasingly recruiting at non-elite schools (very roughly speaking not top 15 schools). At my old undergrad, 5 years ago the most competitive firm to show up was EY. This year McKinsey took 4 non-internship full hires. Why is McKinsey going “down market” for recruiting? Are elite school kids losing interest in consulting so McK has to cast a wider net? Or is McK seeking a wider pool for other reasons? I advise undergrads on consulting so want to be best informed.

Riffing off of Mck's article post below, What's the most outrageous thing you've done or heard on a conference call?

What sort of silly things are Ph.D. consultants are known for when they first get started ? Anyone with first hand experience ?

KPMG is the least douchy firm on here. Maybe because they don't really have a consulting arm?

In midst of a moral struggle. Should I splurge and get an Audi (40k) or buy mainstream Honda/Toyota (20-25k). Have 100k in other debts. Help!

How do you cope with being hungover on a Wednesday morning?

Anyone know how MBB differs from big 4 consulting for growth strat projects? Also in terms of compensation?

My wife is giving birth in a few months to our first child. Should I take the full 16 weeks? Four months seems like an extremely long time. What about utilization and bonus? Getting replaced in projects and initiatives?

Despite being fully vaxxed and not immunocompromised, my spouse is terrified and paralyzed by COVID. She won’t leave the house and we regularly fight about her March 2020 style lockdowns on our family (bleaching mail and groceries etc). I’m concerned because she’s been getting dark hints from work that it’s going to affect her career (she works in sales). Her take is “If they fire me because I won’t see customers, my safety is more important.” Really at my wits end and don’t know what to do.

Oh McKinsey... not sure that being “online at 5:30am, but rarely after 9pm” counts as providing work-life balance to working mothers.
