Just used a meaningful amount of AMEX points for the first time to buy flights to Greece for my wife and I. Emirates business class both ways for 2 people, 290k pts total or 145k each way for 2 tickets. Plus another 30k to get us round trip domestic connecting flights bringing the total to 320 points. This is on the 777 which isn’t the best business class product out there, but I’ve never flown international outside of coach and think it will still be worthwhile. Think this is an OK redemption?

When is a rental property worth it? Wife and I bought our first house in the last year for $600k (20% down). Now we’re considering a rental property (likely $300-$400k 20% down).
But how do you know what’s worth it? I understand IRR, but most are negative first few years while still adding equity in today’s market. Have seen several properties for $400k that rent for $2500. Seems like first year mortgage plus tax, maintenance vacancy is about that amount. When is it worth it?

I want to move into management and I have been told the generic advice of "Act like you have the role already and then get it". I am not afraid of working hard, but I keep thinking this just serves the company in getting someone who does manager work for not manager pay. Is this just me?
