I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Take a week for your peace of mind then start. If you apply now they will get back to you in January. If you apply in Dec they will get to you in Feb. Don’t cold apply, use your network.
Onwards and upwards. Time waits for no one. Business strategies are successful or fail everyday. Apply to the other healthcare firms (Huron, ZS, Evolent, McKesson, Cerner, Epic, etc...) they can’t enforce the non compete if they lay you off I don’t think.
Agree with PWC1 - noncompete is not valid if they laid you off.
You’re just describing consulting now, maybe an industry job would be a better fit for you
I was laid off a week ago too. Start preparing your personal finances if you haven't already. There's plenty of articles on there about the immediate things you need to get in order. Outside of this, get emotionally ready to talk about this with family and friends. It is holiday season so questions will come up. Consider yourself lucky to leave such a company. New doors will open
Client management is a large part of performance, if you can’t deal with “old timers” in a legacy industry then you performed poorly
“Hard to deal with those old timers”? I didn’t understand. Do you mean age discrimination?
Is it a good time to apply now, or after the new year? Been working in my previous company for quite awhile
Just can’t type it all. Sorry for the incomplete story. It’s like the company is not providing the services we recommended to clients. The old timers think the way they usually do is working but obviously not, but they don’t feel comfortable of changing, so they go against instead. It’s been in the same condition for over a year. I am exhausted dealing with it.
Plus, I have a non compete with me for a year.
If you are Epic Certified consultant, I can help get you in Accenture or one of the nyc hospitals. DM me if that’s the case.
Best of luck!
I’ve been job searching too. Look for a new job there’s plenty. You can start now it could go into Q1. Take time off during the holidays as usual
If u got fired, a noncompete shouldnt be enforceable. Find jobs you like, and if they make a big deal, hire a lawyer
