90k EUR or USD? Gross or net? Assume it‘s gross 90k EUR, still a good salary (net it would be very good). At D you‘d probably be there at manager level, which would be around 5YOE

Thanks M1 for clarifying - very helpful.

Where are you coming from? It’s a pretty good salary in Germany for 4 YOE. Berlin is very cheap compared to similarly sized US cities, let alone NY or the bay.

Another EU country. I know about Berlin being cheap...what worries me most are the ever increasing rent prices.

What skill sets ? How did u job hunt

Sorry for not being able to give specific details but skillset in quite prominent IT area. Job hunting was pretty standard - applications to roles advertised online in the major portals.

OP, what portals did you check in for roles in Europe? I usually do LinkedIn. Also did you have to have a language factor that’s required? I find most EU roles need one. I checked with my brother who works in Amsterdam. 75. - 80 is average for a reasonably comfy lifestyle. So you should be good at 90k

LinkedIn, Xing, Angel List. That’s true, most EU roles need local language skills, which I have.

Background:Asia, expecting to promote to M this cycle. Looking for some advice on being headhunted/jumping ship. I’m speaking to HR from another big 4 + a recruiter for another firm for an M role, and it looks like the $ and potentially benefits will be bigger, but I’m not that keen on moving unless the $ is a huge jump. Any advice on how I might navigate this? Have interviews next week for the other roles.

Genuine question as I wanted to know is it strange for someone to want to switch to advisory from tax. Would it be difficult for someone to transition from that position? I understand that they are too completely different work but similar fields. Also wanted to know what’s the day to day basis like for advisory during covid and in general

I’ve been interviewing and I’m running out of excuses for being out of the office randomly and without much notice. I’ve used doctor’s appointment, dentist, “personal reasons” and an emergency appliance issue. Any others people have used? I don’t have kids, so none of those will work. Had an interview scheduled for Tuesday just now.

Received an invite for a superday very quickly after applying to Goldman. Recruiter never sent me the zoom password and then the password failed to work so everything started a full 15 minutes late. Interviews went great including a “they’ll definitely be a second round” but then I received the rejection email the next day. Do we think the tech issues played into that significantly or just my interview not stacking up to other candidates?

Does anyone else feel like their burn-out cycle is shorter? It used to take me about 2 years of grind before I hit a burn-out phase where I needed to do some serious recuperating. It feels like I'm at 3 months now, or even less. I've already spoken to my wife about building quarterly mini-vacations into my schedule just to keep my energy up. And by burn-out, I mean you're at the point that every single ball you are juggling can drop and you get fired and almost see that as a blessing.
