Got offered an Engagement Manager-level position at McKinsey. Salary and annual bonus were what I was expecting, but the offer letter makes no mention of a signing bonus. Is the signing bonus (or lack there of) negotiable or is it basically take it or leave it?

I'm almost done with my master's and right now we are discussing the knowledge gap that happens in 4th grade with our lower-class students. They know or have the skills for how to read (for the most part) but seem not to be able to comprehend what they are reading due to the fact that they don't have background knowledge like their upper-class peers - which is due to life experiences. Have you noticed this in your classes? I have but didn't realize why it was so hard to catch them up.

I just switched jobs only to find out their processes and software are outdated. I’m afraid that I will lose my skills in the new automation and marketing platforms like HubSpot. I asked if there was a chance to upgrade but it’s all done through corporate. Ily old job was tech savvier but my boss was a terrible micromanager. I’m thinking just stick around for 2-3 years. Mck case screening today. Feedback was more structure after the first question and more detail (examples, think along value chain). I wanted to share to help others.

It’s the nerves, you know? When presenting at work for pres/vps, it doesn’t hit me like it does for this interview. Maybe test anxiety? My handwriting gets unrecognizable. The wanting it badly might be the reason I don’t get it. Talk about a catch 22.

Have final round interviews at BCG tomorrow. I'm at S& right now at the SA level. Father had a sudden health issue come up this week and it's got me off my game. I'll ultimately need to support him financially for at least a year while he recovers. Not complaining, but has me considering just dropping out of the interview process. Is that crazy? Is the opportunity with BCG really so far beyond what I have already with S&? Is dropping a better look than interviewing and doing terribly?

I am debating if I should throw my application into BCG. But I hear terrible things about culture. I currently a senior leader in a strategy group and sometimes it’s not very collaborative. So anyone that works or has worked for BCG: how would you describe BCG’s culture?
