Just recieved a offer from Western Alliance Bank for a Senior Business Analyst role. Comp 100k but the role would be in office. I currently work remote, have unlimited PTO,and a really healthy work life balance but am being underpaid tremendously. The new role seems like it does not have healthy work life balance and many red flags have already come up. I want to grow my skills and wouldn't mind being in office as I do miss being around people. How do I vet the role before accepting?

Give them enough room to make the mistake and learn from it. It takes a lot of discipline on your end to not just micromanage and fix it along the way but experience is the best teacher. You're there to help point out solutions - or even better, to help them think through solutions. Reflect on what you liked about your favorite managers. For me, I've always liked fair directness.
find out what their barriers to success are and work to take down those barriers.
maybe it’s skill set. tools. account.
if she’s new in so many facets - then you need to prioritize and pick your spots. don’t overwhelm. realize she’ll retain a fraction of what you teach her. let the media leads teach her the media piece.
My associate is brand new to the advertising industry as well as data and analytics. So I don’t think she knows yet what her barriers are. I’m onboarding her onto the account by taking her through all our post-campaign wrap-ups from this past year and having her take Datorama (like Tableau) lessons online. Do you have any advice for this specific situation?
I agree with all the comments here. Five of my suggestions based on experiences as a direct report:
DO NOT play your title card. Plain and simple. Don’t be a fucking idiot and play that card to other colleagues that don’t even report to you.
DO NOT micro-manage, like forcing your direct report to show you all their emails while standing behind them.
DO NOT impose on projects or tasks that existed before you came into the picture when you have zero context. Even better, do not steal credit from your direct reports.
DO NOT impose your own values, instead communicate what works for you so your direct reports understand you a little better, and learn to take feedback.
DO NOT blame your direct reports, especially when you did not participate in any of the responsibilities at all.
Make them feel heard and help them set goals for themselves. Follow up on those goals and how they’re doing.
