is it a red flag to you if your decently sized mid law firm has never once mentioned pro bono opportunities? we don’t have any kind of diversity initiative either and obviously i know how i feel about THAT. but was wondering how weird this part of it is.
Currently in a play on ATOS that might be interesting for some. It’s a biotech with its primary drug being endoxifen aimed at treatment for breast cancer. Company has no debt and $138M in cash. It’s been announced to be included in the Russell 2K so there will be a predictable movement of ETF inclusion close to June 25. It also still has a high short interest so potentially for shorts to be blown out. I’m currently in 25k shares @ 3.35 holding into the 25th. My price target is $20. Saw this on LinkedIn this morning. I must admit at times I don’t get questioned by just men but women as well who don’t understand why I’m working tirelessly for equality. They either state it’s an uphill battle or “all in my head.” Has anyone been told that gender equality is a mirage? How did you handle the situation? No wrong answers!
Have about $50K to invest. Mostly sitting in checking/ online savings accounts. Where to put the money? Would like to diversity. Average risk tolerance.
One of my bosses doesn’t shut up about freaking diversity (which is extended annoying). So since I’m the only latino on the team, I’m going to use that on ms.weallbelong to get promoted.
Just curious about the diversity here on FB, what's your race? Just up vote the choices below if you want to remain anonymous.
This girl is the same age as me, makes over double what I do and went to a state school and majored in gender studies. So much for working hard in school and getting an in demand STEM degree 😅 FAANG or bust. https://youtu.be/KrB9iSd38LA
Is it diversity if you only hire minorities to work on diversity projects that make you, as an agency, look good? Maybe those people just want to work on stupid banner ads like their white coworkers
"I have no idea what it's like to have my life circumstances affected by my race or gender but listen up because I've got a really important take about discrimination"
Hi everyone! I'm looking to leave the consulting world but don't know where to start. I live in the DMV so everything is government and/government consulting. I'm looking for a place that has an international presence that will help me expand my world view. Also looking for a place where I feel that the intersection of my race and gender is a welcoming attribute....done with the microaggressive attitudes that leads to psychological torture the consulting world has to offer.
Any ideas/suggestions on how to go about forming a diversity committee at a mid size regional law firm? I expect it would be met with some amount of resistance. Thanks!
Damn, Trump just told our firm to stop diversity trainings or give up those federal contracts. Dude is straight evil.
I have to be honest here I would love to work for McK someday b/c diversity matters. But when I look at the top leaders, I think Rich Lesser seems to be more authentic. BCG fishes how do you see Rich as a leader? I like his 2-min leadership lessons learned every Tuesday on LinkedIn.
i know that agencies releasing diversity percentages is a step towards change. but fuck man. seeing agencies i admire, admit to atrocious numbers like 3% asian, 2% black, 4% latino makes me so sad
Genuine question and attempt to understand: for those of you who are upset or unhappy about more robust efforts at diversity and inclusivity, can you explain why these efforts upset you? Or worry you?
Black consultants (primarily in the US but question is open!) - what’s your honest perception of OW from an I&D / diversity point of view?
Someone last week asked about the authenticity of Diversity initiatives at work. Interesting piece from NY Times http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/12/17/public-editor/new-york-times-diversity-liz-spayd-public-editor.html?referer=https://t.co/7Xo5N2j97t
Bain fish: how much should I expect to travel if I'm in the Chicago market? I know there is a local staffing model but not sure how that plays out in practice.
N00B question- is there a central place to go search for openings on projects? Commercial or internal. I know there is one for federal.
Anyone done the BCG Gamma data science take home project? I was wondering roughly what type of modeling I should be brushing up on. Regression? Classification? Optimization? Time series? Other?
What's the best consulting firms for H1B folks who have studied masters in STEM here? Got a cousin graduating this fall and he needs to know H1B/GC policies.
Anybody know the difference between management v. operations consulting in the fed-gov space? Which one is more project based as opposed to staff-aug?
Anyone have experience with Sterling Background Checks? How long did it take? Trying to figure out when to put in my two weeks. No international work experience but have a couple states I’ve worked in and an internship that didn’t have a W2
How long after receiving H1B transfer approval via email under PP did folks receive their hard copy in the mail?
I have been searching for job from quite a long time and all I have seeing HR/Panels asking for 1. Number of implementation projects done. 2. Work experience on S4 Hana. And if I don't have atleast any one of these, I will not be considered. Is it really that important ? Being joined as a fresher - Is it really something that I can decide whether to be in support or implementation project ? Is upgrading of ECC to S4 Hana in my hands ? And the difference is really that vast ?
Thinking of either Belize or Costa Rica late fall this year. Any recommendations? In particular would like to hear about Marriott hotels and off-property excisions in both countries. Thanks!
I am in the process of negotiating an offer for a new job. At my current job, bonuses will be paid out on august 20th. The bonus is sizable so I would like to stay long enough to obtain it. Ideally, I would wait until the bonus hits my account before I put in my 2 weeks. If the new job wants me to start sooner than august 20th, is it acceptable to say that I want to stay because of the bonus, or should I give a different reason? Is it a bad look if I say I want to stay for the bonus?
Going into my first round of interviews with BCG a couple of weeks from now. Because of covid, the interviews (a fit and a case) will be over a video call. Any tip on how to handle the case interview on video rather in person?
Is it wrong to not want a promotion? Ive been told I’m on track for one soon but I still have sooo much to learn at this level and I don’t feel ready to move up. I am, in fact, terrified of the next step and the responsibilities that come with it. Has anyone turned down a promotion and regretted it? Been glad about it?
Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
Anyone feel like maternity leave affected their raise and bonus? I don't feel like my numbers were adjusted and feel like I am getting the run around
Best office chair? And other WFH splurges. Looks like we’ll be stuck working from home for a while. What are some worthwhile splurges to make WFH more enjoyable?
Thinking about going for the 1-year mba since I know exactly what I want to exit to and would like to save money if possible. Are there drawbacks I’m missing that make a 2-year worth it?
My MD makes joke yet subtle jab about my expenses. My reply: wait does this mean I can’t book Westin anymore?
