Hi! I need help! Where do I find creative, quirky, Prod Co’s? Need to do Docu-style videos fun, artsy, some Gfx. Not just talking heads. Client is corporate but spots don’t need to be boring. The reels I have are too “commercial”. It’s for branded content but should feel like little films. Need on camera dialogue & B-roll to create a mood. It’s a triple bid so need more options! Team loves this place, are there more? https://www.cottage8films.com

Op it’s out of their control. They can’t force the SOW to be signed. Also as long as you are not > 10% off the util mark you’ll be fine if you are a strong performer
It is the nature of this business
Reach out to your network to see if anyone needs some temporary help and has hours. That will give you some utilization while you wait.
They also can't hold you without the signed SOW or a temporary code. At least at IBM. So if you get something else in the meantime, you can bolt
It’s not the managers fault...managers and directors have utilization targets too. If anything, we are more likely to be scrutinized first for low numbers since we are more expensive.
SC1 that reasoning is too inflexible and you need to put yourself in the shoes of a M/SM/P who is trying to staff you
OP I've been held out for 2+ weeks but I am not concerned. I figure as long as I am within 10-15% of my utilization goal, then the work I actually do on the project will be far more important than just a metric.
I really don't care about managers and leaders metrics. If they can't manage client and set expectations then it's their problem. As staff and seniors we can't be expected to assume impact of manager's and leadership's responsibilities. If client are going to delay signing then they need to be coached that there will be possiblity of losing resources.
OP I would say keep looking for other projects and if you find another one, just go ahead and switch with the help of your counselor. If the manager wants you to stay then he/ she should provide a charge code
If it really could happen “at any moment” they would initiate PCW.
Kind of surprised at the responses that came in but op, you should tell your RM that the sow isn’t signed if you really want to get off. Some people like the break but if you’re concerned of util goals, I’d say boot yourself off even if it’s awkward
Thanks for the responses. I’ll give it till the end of the week and work on getting on another engagement if client doesn’t make up their mind. Hopefully, they do
DD1 - I am putting myself in their shoes and thinking come performance evaluation, will they be so ready / eager to give me the same rating as someone who has a much higher utilization given all other factors are the same ? Probably not, atleast not at my level. Compound that with atleast avg of 3 different projects I would be staffed in year equals around atleast 1 month of lost utilization (2weeks wait x 3 = 6weeks/1.5 month). Hey if I get paid and get the bonus and bump regardless I am good to keep waiting, till then I need to look out for myself.
