Hi—looking for some advice here. I worked remote for 2 years during COVID and just started going back to the office 3 days a week (9-6 pm). I know I was very productive during COVID because I got promoted and my pay was increased 50% (mainly why I’m torn, was making 82k then within a year + graduating with my masters I’m making 125k). The return to office is killing me, I think it is causing anxiety and depression because I’m being forced back into a micromanagement environment—time to move on?

So I want to get into management consulting (in a much less technical capacity and smaller workplace) but keep thinking "how good I have it" at EY. I am fairly early in my career, can someone tell me how they effectively got themselves mentally prepared to move on?

Google Classroom and Zoom was on the fritz all morning. Lord, I have never worked so fast at multitasking of talking to a few students on Zoom, the rest of the students through Go Guardian, texting parents through ClassDojo, and calling parents. I was only able to teach math and science 🤣

I know convention is not to be the first to throw out a number when negotiating salary, but isn’t it advantageous to state the number you’re willing to move for (provided you’ve done your research for the role)? Otherwise the hiring firm can open with a low figure, then anything you counter beyond that makes you look unreasonable. Whereas if you put a number out first, the onus is on them to meet it.
