How frequently should one expect or advocate for a raise at a small firm? I moved to a new firm (about ten lawyers) about two and a half years ago. After my first year I got a 20% raise following a brief and exclusively positive performance review. Its been about 17 months since then and silence. I have the general sense that the firm struggled a little financially during COVID and I don't want to seem ungrateful or greedy, but apparently the firm is doing well enough to hire more associates.
Currently live in NYC, got an industry offer with a 4% pay raise but new role will be in Princeton NJ. Better work life balance but I’m single in my late 20s. Bad move or good move?
Found out a colleague received same promotion I did, and did considerably less work. Do I go to management and complain? Or just chalk it up as life is unfair?
I'm the guy who posted about how we won't get rich unless we become a Partner or Entrepreneur. Let me clarify: I'm saying change the mindset. Rather than changing firms for a 15k-30k raise, think
How to get the attention of my boss for a promotion when he's working from a different state and I'm in NYC? All communications are through skype, phone etc.
One of the SMs is supporting my promotion case but they are lately trying to micromanage me and ask all nagging questions unnecessarily. Unsure how to handle this professionally.
My department had some turnover in leadership and I am meeting with my new lead for a 1:1. Any advice? I’m not as close to him as I was to our old lead, but now he is responsible for my promotion etc
What’s a normal salary increase at a promotion from jr. AD to AD in NYC. During my yearly review I scored all exceptional and exceeded expectation and I was told I will be promoted shortly.
Someone in an HR session asked how Diversity and Inclusion retention/promotion efforts could negatively impact people who aren't "diverse." That's a bad look bruh.
How long should you work at a firm before you start looking for opportunities? I’ve heard it’s wise to wait until a promotion otherwise you get the stigma that you’re a job hopper. Also, what’s the minimal time you can work on a place and put it on your resume?
Fish fam! looking to come up with a name for a company that I'm incorporating to raise a fund. Any good ideas? Trying to convey something strong, stable and impactful, like a mountain
After a year of being extremely underpaid, my boss gave me a 30% raise I didn't ask for. Is that normal? Or super generous?
what are ACD and CD salaries at BBDO and other Nyc agencies? Having trouble getting a raise inside my agency and other agencies are offering way more. Don’t wanna leave my agency if possible
Can’t help but feel invisible in my current situation- I’ve been pursuing a transfer for over a year (within my same group) and even though I’ve repeatedly asked for help and pulled in directors and partners —I keep getting pawned off to different people. This has cost me a promotion this year although I’m a high performer and my pay is at the high end of my bracket. Meanwhile, white colleagues are getting promoted each year (unheard of). I am told that i’m getting paid well so to be ‘happy’
Percentage wise, what is a typical bump for a promotion? Will soon be an associate (on the buy side)
I have had 3 bosses in my 2.5 years at my agency with a 6 month gap of no boss. No one is looking out for me and my promotion I have been promised. I have a meeting with HR. Help! What do I say?
When did you get your first promotion, what was your title change, and how much of a pay increase did you experience?

Deloitte India offering Associate Director role. How is the work culture and work life balance? SCNO team.
Is it considered unreasonable or rude to ask recruiters to provide JD and compensation range before the first phone conversation.? I feel that would save all involved precious time.

What is an average fixed compensation for L9 at Accenture. Please reply as i have a salary discussion in a day or 2.
I could use some guidance on how to transition out of firm life into a government role. Prior to law: four years working for a state and a city, and four years before that worked at a consulting agency strictly serving government agencies and cities/counties. You’d think this would parlay well into the government roles I am applying for, but so far no dice. I’m entering my fourth year practicing as a lawyer. I love admin law, have some litigation and some transaction work as a lawyer. Thanks!
This is not my wall, but I am making some similar posters for my classroom this year... GROWTH MINDSET!... thoughts?! 💭🧠
