Got this from recruiter regarding background check “ I checked with your onboarding specialist and she says that it looks like the BI is moving ahead as it should. We will not have final clearance until the Friday before your start date and, please remember, no news is good news. You won’t hear anything unless something comes up.”

Do you really need to put in the 2 weeks notice. I've at companies like wayfair, people just don't show up a. when you check their LinkedIn, they are at another company.
Lol yeah don’t do that 😂
It takes a good couple of weeks (at least) for your background check to clear. If you’re confident you won’t have an issue, it’s safe to put in your two weeks. There’s nothing unusual about what you’ve shared. It’s standard protocol.

Background checks at state level have been taking over a month. If your record is clean and haven’t misrepresented anything, take the job.
No way… stay put until background is clear. Anything could happen in the meantime… sometimes roles are pulled at the last minute due to budget etc.
I got the notice my background check had cleared during my going away party for my previous job the night before my last day!
I got my background results delayed due to covid last year. Was only notified close to a week prior to my tentative start date and had already issued my 2 weeks.
Luckily, I still was able to start. I joined with a different cohort ~ a month later.
Unless you need governmental clearance of some sort, why would it take that long for a background check. I totally appreciate I don’t have the context of time here but this just sounds odd to me
