GPA 2.96, GMAT 720, 11 years experience of which 2 years in consulting. Can I get into a good school? If so which one?

OP, after 11 years of experience, what made you want to go back to school? Doesn't tuition and lack of salary outweigh the possible upside?

Look into executive MBA programs. The coolest one I've seen is Wharton's program in SF.

Your eleven years of experience overrides the low GPA, I would think.

And the decent GMAT score

You partied BIG TIME in collegue you rascal!!! LOL. if you put together a good application package I think you can get into any school

My bschool roommate had a similar story. Went to a top 20 and then I-banking. Age/experience trumped GPA.

like

GPA almost irrelevant at this point

Admissions folks will see your GMAT scores. Smart guy, clearly didn't give a fu$k when it came to grades undergrad. You'll be fine with your experience and scores. Just nail the essays.

Dude, I would kill for a 720 score. I graduated with a 3.64 but I'm a retard when we comes to the GMAT. You can get into good school. Just have to explain what happened in undergrad. If you're major GPA was higher, leverage that.

My best friend took a year off work and just traveled around South America with just a backpack and duffle bag of essentials. He spent about $5 to $10 a night at local hostels and food costs cheaper at local restaurants and shops. He spent roughly $500 a month on room and board. Aside from activities like bungee jumping or live sports events, most of the other activities costs little to nothing. Debating on saving up and just escape for a bit just like that.

I’m adopting my very first cat soon! I’m trying to prep my apartment for him, and had a question about plants. Currently I have a ton of large floor plants (snake plant, peace lily, cactus, palm plant). A lot of these are toxic to cats, and I know I’ll likely have to part with them. But some I’ve had for years and so I wanted to know if maybe putting them higher up on a plant shelf or stand would deter the cat from eating the plants? Or should I just get rid of them altogether?

What is the career progression like in PE? At McKinsey where I am now, it’s fairly standardized, about 2-3 years at each level, and up/out model. If can’t get elected partner after 2 or 3 cycles, will likely get counseled out. Partner eligible for senior partnership after 6 years. How is it in PE? Is it up/out as well or can you end up being “stuck” at associate level for 10 years? How likely is it to be promoted, how fast and what happens if you are asked to leave (where do you go next?)

Firm (boutique ) just announced a firm-wide reduction to 3 days a week (it was either that or massive layoffs). I’m very scared about the future, I love consulting very much and can’t imagine exiting, any suggestions on:

1. What to do with the extra time
2. How to find a consulting gig in the current times
3. Anyone willing to chat for career advice

New manager at a Big 4, but I’ve been a consulting manager for a while. An SC on the team said they “refuse” to report to me because I’m new. Our partner told me to get this SC in line and that I have his full support- but he apparently never told her I was coming to join the team to manage her😬. How do I set this SC straight without totally squashing her spirits? For context, she wants to take on more management role and be my “peer” but she’s a brand new SC...she’s not close to being ready.

Anyone know if getting series 7/series 66 licenses while still employed with a Big 4 consulting firm will raise any red flags - cause for termination?
Will go back into finance (advisory) by start of '22 since I believe my ability to sell is being overlooked (I've sourced new deals for PPEDs/MDs but want small contributions for pursuits - "sales credits").
I'd rather catch up to manager/SM salary in 2-3 years doing something that actually benefits people rather than what I am doing now.
