Oh man. I'd love one of these for those outside the US

Couldn’t make it, how was it?

It was fun. Nobody playing trivia cheated which was pleasantly surprising, so we got some hilarious guesses for some of the questions.

It was my first time hosting anything like this virtually, so the other bowl leaders and myself learned some things to make things smoother in the future. Hope to see you at the next one!

The whole thing starts at 7:00 PM. If you don't want to play trivia that's totally fine with us, and I'm sure the folks competing for the $25 credit won't mind having less competition either.

Calendars invites, for those of us who need a reminder to commute to our fridges before we begin:
Google: https://bit.ly/2RfnORU
iCal/Outlook: https://bit.ly/3e0E17n

We’ll have poll here soon for question categories and themes, so stay tuned.

Here’s poll I mentioned. We’ll look at the results end of day tomorrow and see you all Thursday night. https://forms.gle/QUSYX9YpMt23XTR2A

My kids are back in virtual school for the near future. I cannot do this. Any tips/tricks that worked last time? Our local Y had an “in person virtual” program last year, so I escaped most of this, but my daughter was quarantined a few weeks ago, kept coming into zoom calls (a la the BBC guy) not paying attention to class etc. she is 6. Im less worried about my 8 y/o.

I met someone through a slack group on a job posting. We chatted, shared info and this person offered to be a referral on the posting on his team. I’ve gone through 4 loops of interviews with the team panel interview including this person. I felt each loop has gone great. It’s been over a week since my final interview an I haven’t gotten a response from the recruiter, who’s generally been pretty responsive. What are is everyone’s thought on reaching out to the job referrer for an update?

Hey all! I have a 3 yo chihuahua/Italian greyhound mix, and and looking to switch his food up. Currently feeding him hard food, but looking into incorporating more raw ingredients. Does anyone use a subscription service they like that uses good ingredients? He’s a fairly active dog, and the iggy in him loves to zoom, so he keeps pretty lean. A photo for reference :)

My husband’s uncle died this morning. My husband is pretty distraught as he was close to him. His family is in the U.K. He wants us to attend the funeral because he doesn’t want to go there alone. He hasn’t seen his family in 7 years. I see two problems (1) My passport expired and I don’t know if I will get it renewed in time even expedited. (2). The whole Covid thing and going into quarantine upon arrival. Suggest to ask the family to skype the funeral but may be too insensitive? WWYD?

This may not be the right time but can the leader of this bowl set up a zoom meeting where the African immigrant and African American can have an open and honest panel discussion in a respectful way?

Apparently there is a lot of differences and misunderstanding between us and this could be a step forward.
We are all black and have to come together and have one voice. Let's fix each other instead of fighting each other.
Let me know your thoughts.

Why do people dislike being on camera for meetings? For me, video at least gets closer to in-person interaction (you get body language, facial expressions, etc), whereas all Slack and voice-only calls just exacerbate the interpersonal challenges of remote work.

I love teaching art but am having to teach remotely to 1150 kids, k - 5. Have about 54 amazing elementary art teachers in my district that share SO much! I could retire (34 yrs), but just don’t want to because I love what I do! Feeling like my students aren’t getting what they should because I am struggling with Zoom, Microsoft, safe YouTube, bitmoji, embedding, downloads, editing, etc. Anyone else feeling this way?

General question: is there any certain “rule of thumb” post that you sell to take profiles? I’ve seen some experts (“”) say to always collect at 20% and others say until you see a reason to sell. Asking as rearranged last week and luckily got into the airlines before they exploded and now I’m sitting about 50% up on delta. And after selling Zoom way to early (used to buy my delta), I’m not sure whether to take the cash or let it ride more. This fast a rally makes me think it will plummet soon

I’m sick of seeing people wearing grubby clothes on Zoom calls. We are officers of the law and need to present ourselves accordingly. I don’t care that I’m working from home and my dry cleaner is closed. I’m pressing my own suits and wearing dressing as if I have court each day (even with no Zoom calls). It’s called professionalism.

Since this is an open forum where we can be honest, I've assembled a list of billable litigation tasks that can be done from a playground: Conference calls, File review, Fly on the wall depositions where your camera is off, Zoom cattle call status hearings. Any other suggestions?

Thanks :)
